It's hard to tell really, but yours sounds louder than mine. I wonder if Ford made the pedestrian alert noise louder.

It has been disconnected...The sound is definitely mechanical.

My truck is going into dealership Oct 16 for the CSP 23B57, and they asked if I have any other concerns..
I have deleted the pedestrian warning sound speaker (temporarily), as I still believe my truck has a noisy acceleration and deceleration characteristic..
As mentioned it sits right between 15km and 20km (9mph and 12mph) on acceleration/deceleration, and its loud inside the cab, and can be heard inside out house! My neighbors have said we can hear when you get home as it permeates through walls, and truthfully wakes up our 🐕.. It seems to be coming more from the back motor.
Happens exact same when using 1PD or not, and in all drive modes.
Stop and go traffic is a bit of a drag with it.
I cant believe this sound is normal...
Attaching video clips (hopefully)..Does your truck sound like this?

Thanks for sharing the video, great-looking truck! No, my truck (XLT SR) doesn’t make that sound. And, as it does it on acceleration, it’s not regen. Sounds like some strange kind of resonance- perhaps a faulty electronic control in the motor inverter, or perhaps even an old-fashioned mechanical issue like a faulty isolation mount. Have you checked for any DTCs with an OBD port reader?

Thanks for replying, good point about the acceleration/not regen sound.
I will try my OBD on it today and see if anything comes up.
The dealership it's going to has a great sales staff, but the service department is brutal...and deaf..Ive had a Ford Transit with bad wheel bearings screaming and they said the tech "couldn't hear anything", until the wheel bearings disintegrated days later...

You're video reminds me of the low speed pedestrian sound but about 10dB louder. Definitely not right whatever it is. Crossing my fingers your dealer doesn't blow you off.

Hopefully it's not something mechanical, like a loosening fastener in the motor/transaxle unit.

The tech should put her on the rack, and grab a stethoscope to listen to each unit while running her up & down the MPH range

Hopefully not. The only thing I know for sure is the sound was there from the moment I drove off the lot, and hasn't worsened, hence this post I started the next day of ownership.
Will know more tomorrow🤞

Back from dealer. Update installed and no battery issues found.
Tech said the motor sound was normal as far as he knew, and that he tried another truck on the lot that did the same noise.
He then said it may because I have the dual motor version, and that the ones I heard must have been the single motor ones...I cringed......no...just......no....

Anyhow, no joy. They will send a report to Ford engineers detailing my complaint....

Mine definitely makes a similar noise, I'll try and record it. It only happens at specific low speeds (10-15mph) and only during light acceleration or regen'ing to a stop. It also transient, I'll hear it briefly while I pass through that window. If I accelerate harder you don't really hear anything.

That is exactly how mine behaves as well.
The one Lightning I heard that didn't make the sound was a SR, not sure if that should matter though. I do believe the sound is a characteristic of the truck, with some being louder than others. Thanks for your response 👍

Recordings of sounds should be interpreted with caution. I used to do professional video editing, and I can attest to how incredibly different sounds can be after recoding the same sound with different mics. Also, the gain, position, environment, etc. can also drastically change the recorded sound profile.

My Lightning has made these sounds at acceleration and deceleration since I picked it up last November. Never gave it a second thought. I don't mind the sound at all.

Apparently the "whining" sound is just me 😏...(self burn before someone beats me to it)
I dont totally hate it, but I do think it is louder for some than others. All good for now.👍

It's reassuring to know nothing mechanical is wrong, enjoy the truck, overtime the noise will blend into the background and your neighbors will acclimate.

I live not to far from ACELA rail line, when I first moved into the neighborhood it was irritating, but after 30 years I hardly notice it or the MBTA trains.
