I finally got around to hooking up the LED lights on the tonneau cover, which uses a Y-splitter trailer harness adapter (so that the trailer plug gets split to go to the trailer plug and the LEDs). But now the truck thinks I have a trailer plugged in at it disabled the cross traffic alert. Does anyone know if there's a way to split the trailer harness and it not think I have a trailer connected?

I had to wire directly into a the lead going to the tail light when I connected my hitch light. I believe there is a way to put a resistor on it, but splicing is splicing so went the other route.

F-150s have been like this for years. No manufacturer should go the splitter route.

I had my brother follow me with it connected, turns out the little flare on the tailgate blocks most of the light.

Good to know for the future, but I think I'm just going to pull all the wiring on the cover. Not worth the hassle for me. I bought a cover that was for a previous generation, perhaps it wasn't a problem then.

Thanks guys.
