I just got my plates from the Ford dealership. (Used 23 platinum) and noticed it is registered with “Vehicle Type = commercial”.

I looked at the DoL website and I don’t think I meet any of the weight criteria.

was this a dealer screwup? Is it in my favor or am I paying extra?

Could be a dealer mistake or you providing wrong information ;).
Generally commercial vehicles have higher insurance premium.

Not sure about your question, but one thing I noticed when I registered my Lightning in western WA is that it was not subject to the Regional Transit Authority tax, unlike my other vehicles. I looked up the regulations and it turns out that electric trucks over 6000 pounds are exempt! I'm not sure if that is related to commercial vehicles or just someone in the government doing themselves a favor, either way in happy to not have to pay it!
