Hello - I tried finding any threads about this, but haven’t been able to find much. I have a spray-in bed liner that was sprayed by a dealer-affiliate and is covered by a weathertech tonneau cover. It’s been relatively cool, but yesterday the sun was beating on my tonneau all day and I kept smelling something coming from near the back of the truck when I had it in the garage. When I opened the tonneau cover, I tracked the smell as coming from the bed. I noticed that underneath the pro power panel was a bit dirty, so I spilled some water on top of the rear stake cover and lo and behold, the water is leaking all around the pro power panel and the bed light switch. Has anybody run into this? And do you have any tips on sealing this? My assumption is that they either didn’t seal off the holes before they sprayed and there isn’t a good seal now, but then I started wondering if it was a normal issue. Was thinking of using some rtv, but wanted to see if anybody had any other recommendations before I do so.

I don't understand what the issue is. Please elaborate. What was the smell?

These trucks are designed without tonneau covers. Every time it rains, everything gets wet. I think you are saying water is getting somewhere it's not supposed to go but where that is isn't clear to me.

Thanks for the reply. The smell, I believe, was water hitting the spray in bed liner that possibly hasn’t fully cured yet (Chicago weather hasn’t had very warm weather and it’s been only a couple weeks). I narrowed down that water was coming in through the stake cover and coming out around the edges of the bed lights switch and the pro power panel.

The question was if anybody had ever sealed the edges of the pro panel box and the bed light switch. I understand water is going to get in and nothing is water tight, but it seemed odd to me that water was coming in that way.

My concern with sealing anything is trapping water somewhere. If it's leaking it's not trapped.😆
