I agree, just four apps on my phone, but there has to be a better way. I read on this forum where the "Circle K" truck stop has fast chargers that just work- slide in your credit card and charge. I'm not sure why that is not at least an option on these other stations- NFC card readers are easy to install so really just hold the card near the target and then start charging. Totally weather proof and easy to implement.

I use Plugshare while planning my trips. EvGo has generally been pretty good for me except that one of their stations in Norfolk, VA has been down for a month. Since I don't travel very often I really don't care about the high kWh charges- just make the chargers reliable!! I hope that the Ford & Tesla partnership works as there are many Tesla chargers on the roads I drive here in Maryland.
My thought is that it is all about money. Like the cliche goes, if you look deep enough it's always about money. I'm a right-wing (actually more right of center) capitalist pig, and I don't begrudge people making money, but this way of doing it with SEVEN apps that don't work together is insane.

These companies can data mine you, sell off other information. But why can't it be as simple as you say? Just like going to the corner gas station.

Pull up. Put in my card, it's approved, plug in my truck, and voila - electrons moving. What a flippin' concept this is.

LOL- "elections" auto-corrupt hits again. It really should be that simple, get the electrons moving, and I think things will get better with time- there may even be some competition. I saw a Tesla driver at the EvGo station in Norfolk- they were charging 27 cents per kWh while Tesla was charging 43 cents- so he was a local guy just filling up at the lowest cost provider. The wholesale rate for electricity in my area is 5.2 cents per kWh- that's what I got for the excess kWh I sent to the grid last year. So 99% of the time I fill up for 5.2 cents per kWh and that is really convenient and cost effective.

Stupid damned autocorrect. There's an idea for Exxon and Shell, et. al. Put in charging stations and then next to the gas prices they can put what they kWh is. Oooooooh. New business idea.

Everybody is screaming about the charging infrastructure. How long do you think it took for gas stations to become widely available? Over 30 years. So, by my logic, we should have plenty of public charging stations in about another 20 years or so. Until then, home charging is your friend.

I scream about it because right now our ever so helpful governments are pushing all electric vehicles, with some states banning any ICE vehicles in 12 years.

So if we can't take care of what we have on the road now, which is less than 1% of vehicles, how in God's name is this going to happen.

Home charging is fine, however our electric grid and power generation barely makes enough to cover surges now, and in some places (like CA which is mandating no ICE vehicles in 12 years) it cannot even do that.

So forgive me if I might have some concerns. Even with a mass infusion of government funds (read more national debt) and the oh so well well known efficiency of our government....Just don't see it happening.

I didn’t mean to upset you. Just addressing a concern that many people in the early days of the ICE revolution had about finding fuel as we now have with finding charging stations. I believe it will get better with time.

Takes a lot more than what almost anyone on the net says to get me upset.

But one thing with EVs that didn't exist as much with ICE? Government money.
