What is the attraction to 20"+ rims?

What about a Superduty with 24.5" semi wheels shaved down to 24" to fit 37" light duty tires. (Not my truck!). Seems to be a new trend...

Not new. That was being done back when I had a Ram 3500 dually thunder road edition

I like 20s. I like the look of 18s with larger tires as well, just don’t need that on my truck, but I’d be happy with either.

I’m not going to “air down” to climb boulders in a $70k truck, if I were into that, I’d get a specific vehicle for that. I see alot of lifted trucks on my commute everyday that are way cleaner than my truck. I doubt they have a higher payload either with 70lb tires on a 18 inch rim. But they look good. Just like the guys on 20s like their looks.

I mean I was happy with my wife’s C’s but those DD’s I put on there are sweet. 20s rule! lol

I disagree on the 20’s, but I’m willing to take a look at the DD’s you mentioned, since you brought them up…. Feel free to post a pic for our review.

By the way, that sounds like a really cool build, I'd be stoked to see it built! I would razz you a little about the 20's, and you can razz me a little about the fact I won't have 35's...!

The 20" rims look better At least in some peoples minds. The lower profile tires also have less sidewall stretch and can give a bit more road feel in addition to controlling a large trailer better. And yes they do weigh more, scuff easier, and sacrifice some ride quality.

100% in agreement with this. It all comes down to personal preference. I like 20" because with my build, the wheels and chrome addition fill up the wheel wells and compliment the truck. But the downsides noted in this thread are the trade-off.

I really like the 20" rims available on the XT and Lariat but not available on my build.
