I agree. I had a talk with a retired suspension engineer and he said that my Hankook tires were probably made special for Ford to hit their price point, rolling resistance, quietness etc. A tread redesign was probably required to hit the requirements.

I think they look like crap. I have an expensive truck that says "FX4" on the side with tires that belong on the wife's suv. Shame on you Ford.

I wanted a better looking tire with good rolling resistance. I looked at Tire Rack and consumer reports and watched the TR video comparisons. (ya I'm a nerd)
and talked to my Engineer buddy.
I settled on the Continentals. 275.60.20
I would have gone to a 285.60 if it wasn't an E load tire.
I am happy with what I did. The tire is also seems a lil bigger than the Hankook. (Look at Tire Rack OD and revs per mile specs)

Note: I purchased dedicated wheels and snows for winter

To be honest, I've been looking at a lot of tires and didn't even consider those. They look really good from both a sidewall and tread pattern and have really great reviews. They remind me a little of the Goodyear Trailrunner ATs I had on my 19 Silverado before I sold it. I will add these for sure to my list. I do plan to tow a 5500lb dry/7500lb max TT, so may go with the LT285/60r20 over the P275/60-20 to get the E rating and the sizing doesn't seem that much different, just a little. Would have to decide between those or the LT275/65-20, but thinking for MPGs, the 285s would be better between the two LT options.

I was also considering the Yokohama Geolanders G015, but I think the Continentals would do much better in the rain.

MPG and tires are fun. I ordered the PB for the assumed MPG but wanted a little beefier tire than the stock. I thoughts about taller tires, but think I may be looking at 305/55/20 or 33/12.5/20 to stay with same height and just a bit wider. The things I have been focusing on with the tires, besides tread mileage, would be the added weight. Load range/index play a role as well in the weights.

I was a little disappointed when I seen the Hankook tires, like you said you think with the FX4 package they would give you a tire that was more aggressive looking. The truck does ride smooth and quiet. Overall that is my only complaint so I consider my self lucky

The stock Hankook AT2 do not have the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol so are not rated for severe winter service. The "retail" version of the AT2 do have the 3PMS symbol. I am swapping mine for the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus. I'm a big believer in winter tires but my truck is a short term lease so don't want to get another dedicated set of winter wheels and tires because of cost and lack of storage space. The Pirellis are reasonably priced and seem well reviewed on Tire Rack. Hope they will do the trick.

Those look like great tires! I'm tempted to swap the stocks out when I get the truck
