Wheel alignment at dealer or elsewhere?

Does a wheel alignment need to be done at the dealer or can any shop do it? I am seeing mixed things on if the sensors need to be recalibrated with alignment.

Except the steering position sensor.

I would have the dealer do it just because of the rear suspension.

Independent rear suspension should not be anything specific. Any good tire shop should be able to do it. It is no different than most cars.

The state of the industry is abysmal, if you have a reputable shop then sure but they are few and far between. The f150 rear suspension is different than most trucks and slightly different than most cars. The concepts are still the same.
All depends on the depth of the work. Just tweaking the alignment shouldn't be a problem. Most problems arise after part replacements and confused techs who don't realize how sensitive some suspensions are.

Very true but at least a Ford dealer will have access to manuals and tooling quicker, maybe even a tech trained on the Ford ev's.

The manuals should be referenced for the settings, adjustments and torques. Alignment systems have most of the data built in so it may not be a problem if they've updated the software to include the lightning.

I don't want someone just guessing. Are you familiar with all of the possible adjustments on the truck? It's not just toe in/out.
