@cvalue13 I'm not misreading or misunderstanding anything. The Tesla map shows locations, not chargers.

Apparently we both agree that Tesla has about 1,500 locations in the US (~1,772) Those locations have multiple chargers.

Tesla has 17,711 Superchargers, accounting for about 60% of total U.S. fast chargers, which can add hundreds of miles of driving range in an hour or less. There are also nearly 10,000 "destination" chargers with Tesla plugs that can recharge a vehicle overnight.

https://www.reuters.com/technology/...5-bln-federal-program-white-house-2023-02-15/

As of December 2022, Tesla operates 40,432 Superchargers in 4,470 stations worldwide, an average of over 9 chargers per station. There are 1,772 stations in North America, 1,801 in the Asia/Pacific region, and 897 in Europe.[2] Supercharger stalls have a connector to supply electrical power at maximums of 72 kW, 150 kW or 250 kW.[3]

States an average of over 9 chargers per station.

Tesla will modify 3,500 new or existing chargers, not locations.

3,500 / 17,771 = 19.7%

If Tesla doubles their charging stations by the end of 2024 as they have said, but does the same 3,500 chargers, the math cuts in half.

re-read my post and tell me what prompted you to so brashly fly in with my “numbers are wrong”

my post speaks in terms of stations, not stalls

Tesla is committing to 3,500 fast charging STALLS, which equates to about 350 STATIONS (assuming, probably incorrectly, they use the 3,500 stalls to populate the entirety of a station, which has on average 10 stalls … and yes, I rounded up a single stall per Wiki, and cited it, sue me)

If Tesla doubles it’s number of stalls, and assuming they don’t double the historical average of stalls per station, then they’ll go fro present 1,700 stations to YE 2024 3,400 stations

and of those 3,400 stations, either:

• only 350 Tesla supercharging stations by YE 2024 will contain all dual use superchargers (ie assuming probably incorrectly they fill new stations at 10 stalls/station)

• all 3,400 Tesla supercharging stations ivy YE 2024 will have a single dial use stall (assuming probably incorrectly they retrofit one dial use stall in each existing station and also new stations are given a single dial use stall)

• or somewhere between the two above extremes

No, because they get no funding unless a LOCATION has 4 CCS stations.

The likelihood is that the majority of 3,500 CCS chargers, 4 per location, will be mostly at new locations.
