So, I just took delivery of my truck and on the 15hr drive home I had some time to get acquainted with the truck and most of my annoyances are software related... Wifi / Wirelss Android Auto is one of them.
When you enable Wireless Android Auto you also enable a feature in the truck called "Wireless App Projection"
with it's own WiFi network, separate from the WiFi Hotspot, you can change the SSID and password so that's all good.
What is not so good is the fact that WiFi data is not passed through on the "Projection" network, and/or Android Auto is not available through the WiFi HotSpot. I kinda get the latter as it probably would be confusing for Android Auto to know which device to talk to, but there's no reason (that I can think of) why "data" isn't available through the Android Auto network.
What this means is that you can't have the cookie and eat it and you have to pick your poison.
You either have wireless android auto and the wireless charging, but - not WIFI hotspot data (for you, everyone else can obviously still use it)
OR
You use the WIFI hotspot, but now you have to plug your phone in with a USB cord for android auto.
To me this is a big oversight and have me reconsidering the dataplan in the truck.
Hopefully someone can tell me there's a setting I missed, but I've had 2-3 hours of charging to find that setting and I couldn't so...
