I hope ford doesn’t expect anyone to subscribe to bluecruise if they won’t update it to the newest version available.
That's the gamble for sure. But everyone was fine with the version that came with their trucks until a newer version came out, and even if 1.4 is the best we'll get it's still pretty slick in my book.

We know that so far the 2025 Mach-E is the first vehicle to get BC 1.5. So those guys have discussed this. For example, there is this video from the 2024 LA Auto show where a YouTuber gets a tour of the 2025 Mach-E from a Ford employee. He discusses the new cluster graphics and then says Ford made a lot of hardware improvements on the 2025 Mach-E specifically in the "DAS" systems that enabled the implementation of BC 1.5 (DAS - Driver Assistance System). Continual hardware improvement.
Video cued up to 27:30 where they discuss. My take from his comments is you may get some of the graphics but not BC 1.5. And I think that's why only the Mach-E is getting it. The F-150's, Expeditions likely did not get the DAS 2.1 system that the Mach-E now has.
Maybe I misunderstood, however he is saying that the new DAS system will be 2.1, while the other ones before that are 1.5. So if we don't have the new hardware, you are technically limited to 1.5.

I am not happy with version 1.0 while I was test driving it but I was told not to worry because I would be getting plenty of updates. I don't know if 1.4 improves things because I don't have it to try it but version 1.0 has proven to me over and over that I can't trust it. So I don't use it at all anymore. I only purchased my NEW truck a little over 6 months ago and it's 5 versions behind and has stayed 5 versions behind. So stating what I said above, do you really think that puts me in the state of mind of paying for a subscription in any way shape or form. I am still open to paying a subscription, but they need to be more transparent and deliver on promises before I consider it. Tesla subscriptions receive the latest updates on a regular basis. Is this Fords plan? If so, put it in writing. If not, then I'm not interested and it will be my last Ford.

Software is the new auto industry. If they are going to treat it like old auto, where they think they can force you to buy a new car just to get software updates, they will fail. I am in the market for a new car, and was going to buy a Mach-E but my software update experience with my lightning has turned me off (even though I completely love the truck). I would buy a Tesla, just for this reason alone, but I hate Elon so much, I would rather walk in the desert and be eaten by vultures in a painful gruesome way, than buy a Tesla. I've been looking at other brands and so far nothing has really caught my eye so Ford still has a little chance to prove to me that they are serious about software and older model support.

The 25 Mach E comes out of the gate with BC 1.5, but it sounds like 24 and below have hardware limitations that will not allow for 1.5. Does a Tesla that's 5+ years old get all the software updates and features of the current new models?

We actually may be limited to 1.4. I think the confusion is he is using the term "1.5" in two different contexts. BC 1.5 comes with the 2025 Mach-E that has DAS 2.1. Older vehicles have DAS 1.5. He wouldn't say whether or not if those would get BC 1.5 but in my mind hinted they would not because of hardware limitations.

However when you do a blinker-activated Assisted lane change (BC 1.2 and above), it waits until it is clear to pass so our trucks have that logic. And I think in some vehicles it will also give you a note if you are going slow and could pass (so it has that logic). So I'm not sure what additional processing power is needed to give Automatic Lane Changes like BC 1.5.

Even older than 5+ year Teslas get updates. Obviously, software support can't last forever but like phones, a 5 year minimum is to be expected, especially when dishing out 80K+. If it's true that new hardware is required to move forward, then people buying 2025 lightnings today and 12 months in the future are already at end of life for the platform. That strategy is going to kill them in todays new software world. Every lightning sold from 2022 (except for some EAP members) have had zero updates to Blue Cruise. I have no problem with that strategy if when I initially pay for blue cruise on my truck, like I did, it stays functioning that way for the rest of its life. If I am not gaining updates or anything new in the future, why should I be paying for a subscription? The point of subscriptions are for software departments to fund itself for the purpose of advancing the software, and then passing it on to those that pay. They obviously have been advancing the software but they are forgetting the most important part, passing the software on. After BC v1.2 was completed, those same engineers needed to work on whatever they needed to, to make sure all lightnings were updated to v1.2 before moving on to V1.3. Unless I see a dramatic shift in them prioritizing pushing out all these updates that already exist, I will not consider purchasing another Ford. My sales person and a ford engineer also promised that I would get propower with truck off over a year ago. It exists in 2024 models and up, but again, who cares about past trucks. Sorry, but this old school philosophy doesn't work for me.

I get it. I have a 24, so I'm not in the same boat as you and others with 22's and 23's. I think I'm on version 1.2 or 1.3, (Who knows?) but I most likely won't be buying a subscription unless I get 1.4.
