Do we think the Lightning will have an OBDII port? Just wondering if Ford is advanced enough to drop it or if they've kept it just for a common interface. I'm sure what ever they did on the MachE will carry over, but I haven't gone to check out those forums.

How would they do emissions compliance testing without an OBD port?

Seriously, OBD ports are required on all light duty vehicles sold in the USA.

No OBD ports in Tesla model 3 and model Y. It’s not nessecary in electric cars since it was designed entirely for the purpose of emissions testing… there is no emissions in an electric truck, so not required.
I’m sure they will still install one though.

LOL - I'm the OP and I asked it because I know the Model 3 and Y don't have them. While maybe "required by law", that is antiquated and there are exceptions to it.

I'm 99% sure it will because we know this truck isn't engineered from the ground up. Part of me was hoping they'd removed it for something like an RJ45 type port which the 3 has. This would tell me maybe they had advanced some of their antiquated update routines.

On the flip side I guess part of me hopes it is still there so when we find things they've crippled on this truck and OTA updates fail as we read about from the ICE versions we can join the Forscan and FDRS guys and fix our own trucks.

Does the Mache have one? The Model S/X has an OBD2 port but it's basically useless. All the good info comes from a diagnostic port that requires an adapter to plug in an OBD2 dongle to read info off the CAN bus.

Yes, MME has an OBD2 port (as does Chevy Bolt fwiw). Many owners use them to pull additional data from the car for various apps. Since the Lightning relies heavily on traditional F150 architecture I will be surprised if there isn't one, especially since Ford included it on the purpose-built MME.
