Seems like they are pricing rims, speakers, and fancy leather at $10k? What justifies the crazy jump in price from the lariat+?

Seems like they are pricing rims, speakers, and fancy leather at $10k? What justifies the crazy jump in price from the lariat+?
Don't forget the massage seats and max towing as standard!

As someone that normally buys the top trim, I just couldn't justify the jump to the Platinum. Stuck with the Lariat+ with no other options to stay under $80k JUST in case BBB somehow passes and includes total cost. I will order the all-weather mats offline, and go to LineX for the spray-in bedliner.

Thinking the exact same. Still donā€™t get the price. I guess rivian is charging $3k to upgrade rims. Still, are the speakers and seats also $3k each? Thatā€™s crazy. The tow tech is only ~$800 difference between lariat+ and platinum.

Same jump from Barebones Pro to Barebones XLT. It's a pretty hefty price bump. 12k?
Now I have no problem as long as I get $12K in upgraded components. But honestly, all I see for the $12,000 is:

Cloth seats
Running Boards
Fancier Zone Lighting
360 Camera
Work Surface
And of course the LED bar across the front/back

That's not but maybe $3,000 worth of options?

You are paying for the privilege of ordering the cheapest truck available once the Pro sells out. And you don't get the rear lightbar until the Lariat.

The Platinum is a head-scratcher for sure. If I configure a Lariat just the way I want, it's $81K and change. That's with max towing and all the upgrades, spray in Berliner, etc..

If I configure the Platinum the same, I'm at $94K. It's just under $12K more to get the Platinum and the only things the Platinum trim gets me is: 22" wheels, Nicer leather seats, Active-Motion air/massage system in the seats, max-recline seat option and the upgraded sound system with 18 speakers. That is all. Seriously. I really want the upgraded sound system and the Active-Motion upgrade in the seats. But refuse to pay almost $12K to get these things. I do not want the 22" wheels even though I like the machined aluminum look better than the carbonized grey ones on the Lariat.

I'd be more willing to go Platinum if they could give closer to 400 miles of range. As it stands, if I follow through with my Lightning order, I'll probably only keep it until I can get an R1T max pack or the next iteration of the Lightning with a larger battery.

The XLT with ER battery makes even less sense than the Platinum... If you need the ER battery, Ford has pretty much set the pricing to make the most sense with the Lariat trim, which is more than what many/most people probably want to pay. Sure the XLT with ER battery is about 10% cheaper, but misses the mark on a lot of other features.

I ordered a Platinum because my wife loves the Active Motion seats in our Expedition. One of the main reasons Iā€™m getting a Lightning is because I just got a solar and battery system installed. Works out for both of us.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the Platinum says it has a 280 mile range (extended battery standard) vs the XLT/Lariat 300 mile (extended battery). I'm thinking it's because of the 22" wheels.

Yes, the wheels will kill the range. I wish Ford would let you choose the wheels you want. But everything is tied to trim levels.

The high ranges were from trucks that had been sitting plugged in. There was one at the road show. Even if Ford opens up some of the reserve in the battery you would be talking about 20-30 miles maybe. Weather is a bigger killer of range. If you do long distance trips, the app a better route planner to can used to plan the route and stops for charging.

I'm older now, so I need to stop every 2-3 hours anyway. Might as well be a charging station and top up for 20 mins, walk the dogs, take a leak, grab a bite to eat.

I guess there are numerous videos showing range greater than 300 miles and not all are fully charged. I still ordered one not solely based on range alone. Changing the 22 inch wheels out for something smaller and forged will be something I plan on doing anyways. Mainly because I donā€™t like the Platinum wheels at all and if it benefits the range, even better.

The massaging seats alone would probably make up at least $3k of that difference...ever looked at how much those things cost?
It is also a two-tone interior with white/black. All other trims are just straight black.

I donā€™t have to previously own an electric car to know I will never get the max estimated range. Iā€™ve never gotten the max estimate of mpg of any vehicle Iā€™ve owned. Itā€™s nice to have a larger gas tank and Iā€™m assuming itā€™s nice to have a longer range too.
