So I actually think that's on Apple this time. I'm still stuck on the dreaded 1.7.1 (despite having the usb stick in for 4 days and counting now) and I have the black border as well on the older version of SyncAnyone noticed the CarPlay screen is messed up ? It seems they shrunk the the resolution, exposing a black rectangle behind it. Also the Phone List at the top left is misaligned:

Still hasnt kicked off? I know its not that much fun maybe try a master reset/ then insert the USB. That USB us good forever in that truck. So if you pull it you dont have to redownload it.
Not yet, I've tried everything but the master reset, on my way to do that now. I got hopeful last night, I swear I saw some usb activity via the little red light on the stick but nothing to wake up to this morning.
Running as in the engine running? I thought it would only update when it was in accessory mode, on but not actual engine running. Shoot maybe that's my problem, I haven't really had it truly running all that much.
No for that update to kick in truck needs to be running.
Right. I can't stress enough how important it is to follow the prompts in FDRS exactly as they are written. I remember that, for most of the updates, the prompts read "ignition on, engine off." But for one of the updates the prompt was "ignition on, engine on." I almost missed it. I made it a point to slow down, read the prompts carefully and follow them exactly after that.
