Has anyone converted their fold down armrest (40/20/40 front seats) to a flip-up storage bin?

My Ram 1500 had a nice storage console and I saw earlier year F150 models had under armrest storage. My 2022 does not.

Anyone convert theirs, or know how to make it open up? Thanks

Yes, I am aware of that, but I use the center arm rest (fold down seatback) all the time.

My Ram had a similar fold down, but the arm rest had a flip-up lid and USB port(s) inside. It was very nice to have.

I believe the XLT with a 40/20/40 seat has the flip up storage under the armrest already. At least my 2021 does. I believe the XL did not.

Sounds likely that part could fit on an XL?

I did come across a post a while back from someone that did this conversion and it involved cutting the fabric of the seat back. They or all of the parts that were missing such as interior tray and hinge and lid and it all bolted into the existing seat. I don’t remember if it was here or the other forum that I saw it on. It might have been in the thread for adding work surface

Do you have a picture of yours? Mine is a 2022 XL and I *think* the 2021 was the same on the XL.

How different might the cloth be, I wonder, between XL and XLT?

Just buy the XLT armrest/center seat.

Even on the ford build and price for the 21 (ford.ca) the XL shows the console opens up.

Does OP have the work surface? I have work surface with my column shift. If you slide it forward there's some (mostly useless) storage and the truck will yell at you for it not being stowed

I didn't even know that was an option. Your best bet is probably to find another middle seat and swap it with yours. Or secure some OEM parts and swap it, yourself. I don't know about hollowing it out. I'd rather have what you're after vs my work surface. Thing is stupid...

You SHOULD be able to get just the seat back (and therefore armrest) and swap it with the one you currently have. Good luck finding one, however.

This is what I have I my 2021 XLT 301A minus the shifter. Mine's on the column because that's where I wanted it. I custom ordered it that way.
