How do I get started for a lightning

The Lightning may be the hottest vehicle on the market right now. Getting one for MSRP without a reservation/order would be like buying a SuperBowl ticket on the open market for under face value.

Or finding a golden ticket !

No. They haven't announced it.

As stated, they stopped at 200,000.
They will produce 15 - 20,000 this model year.
They will produce maybe 80 - 100,000 next model year, getting to a run rate of 150,000 by mid-year.

Therefore, the earliest you will be able to buy, via ordering, is for the 2024 model year, AFTER the remaining 80,000 or so reservations get to order.

I would assume there will be no more reservations. Ford will open ordering, after reservations are converted, maybe in mid to late 2024 for the end of the model year and 2025 model year.

Summary - you can order a Lightning 1.5+ years from now.
