Reservation position at a given dealer

Is there a way, other than asking the dealer, what your position is for a Lightning at said dealer?

I've asked and told....Eh, we have no idea.....which translates to we don't or won't make the time to figure that out for you.

I don't feel like bugging them.

They are lying if they tell you they don't know. My dealer walked me through it to show me and it only involves a few clicks to get the whole list. Back in December there was a PowerPoint that came out to show dealers how to do this. You can look for that and take it to your dealer if they can't figure it out.

They don’t know unless they have prioritized their list. Even then the invitation comes from Ford and no one knows if Reservation Number matters or if the Timestamp matters

Thats only if they decide to Prioritize. His dealer might not have used that option and therefore doesn’t know what his place in line is. My original dealer also did the same thing, they did not prioritize and couldn’t tell me what my place in line was.

Edit: although the “auto rerank” makes it seem like if they used prioritization, they would be ranked with Reservation holders not ranked….. hmmmm

I'm pretty sure that's the same process you go through to get prioritization listing. If you look on page 10 it shows a number one through 10 or whatever the dealer has. You just won't have the option to prioritize anymore.

What I'd do is call around the different dealers in your state - target the high volume dealers.
Ask them how many allocations for customer special order they received the past year.

Much better chance to find a ZEV state dealer too.

Choose the dealer that has the highest special order allocation and that will get you a better position on the reservation list.

If you think about it, my local 3 dealers near me had 2-5 Lightning allocations then my work place uses a fleet Ford dealer 2 counties away that is a very high volume (Roush & Raptor) dealer.

Placed my reservation with them and they received 50 Lightning allocations.
Sure enough I was picked by Ford to order a MY'22 Lightning and I was a second day reservation holder after 30,000 other reservations ahead of me.

Well worth the drive 2 counties away to get the Lightning sooner than later...

Small town dealer. I went with them because of no ADM and they are close. There are 2 other dealers that I could transfer to of necessary. I'll look into them and see if it would make a difference.

Honestly, I'm in no big hurry to convert. I'd just like to know where I stand

Around here I picked between three dealers. Biggest was going to have adm, but couldn't tell me how much. My reservation was originally with them 45 out of 250+. The sales guy said that this was a very good position (I didn't not think so and was not going to pay extra). Other dealer was not as big, but no adm 39 out of 200ish. Third dealer is smaller, family owned. I transferred there. They said that they couldn't tell me my position until I transferred. I figured that if it was a poor position I could transfer again. Once transferred I was told that I was in their top 10 out of 64. I don't know how far into the top 10, but I received an invite in wave 4. It probably helps to be in a zev state.

My order was with the #1 volume dealer in the state. Reservation was placed on 5/20 (Day 2) when I got my invite to order in wave 4 (2/17) they told me I was #36 for that dealership. Pissed about the $2500 ADM that I realized after my order was placed but not sure if I would have gotten a MY 22 if I had chosen a smaller dealer without ADM.

Sucks but you probably wouldn’t have been able to order a ‘22 if other people hadn’t moved their orders before placing them to other dealers. Add in that you might lose more than that in tax credits by the time you could have ordered at #36 you’re in a good spot. Unless you wanted SR lol.

I agree but hate the idea of ADM! I’m paying it, just hoping there aren’t some other non-sense fees added on when the truck arrives!
