I wouldn't cancel any EV truck reservations. resale on these rare items will be amazing.

I'm not canceling my CT, because I assume my reservation will be available for actual purchase in 2026-27, when I'll be looking at what vehicle will be replacing my Lightning.

Ford's lightning fast rollout and Tesla's incredibly sluggish rollout may end up being a perfectly timed combo. Plus Tesla helped to sell a Ford, in my case anyway.

This is my interest with the Ford Options plan. Its has the benefit of a lease, while maintaining the $7500 rebate.

When I did my taxes this year I got the $7500 credit for buying my Mach-E last summer.

I expect to do the same thing next year unless they hit the cap and the credit is reduced.

Having said that, this is not a "rebate". You are getting $7500 off of any capital gains you may have gotten for the tax year when you file your taxes.

You aren't getting a check back for $7500.

So if you aren't in a position where you made too much in capital gains this will not benefit you.

Just wanted to make sure that was clear for everybody who may be thinking they'll be getting a check from Sam for big bucks.

Whatever you owe in income tax (capital gains, dividends, regular we income, 1099 income...,). The taco credit is the first 7500 of your tax bill (does not matter how much you have withheld). If your tax bill is less than 7500, then the entire bill is paid with nothing carried over to future years.

If someone were to get a lightly optioned pro...Maybe not enough tax, or someone quite wealthy, but low income or a bunch of losses in the market in taxable accounts (certainly possible this year so far), but if in the wealth, but no tax category you could try to increase taxable income/activity to take advantage of the credit this year (conventional ira to Roth conversion) .

Not sure if it’s only around here in upstate NY, but I see plenty of ads for “zero down - no payments for xx days”.

I believe a down payment just reduces your capital cost, ergo monthly payments.
