It's hard to not jump all of this post, but OP has been nice how it was laid out, but I must ask, have you never driven a full size truck?

If that isn't what you want there is always the Model Y or Rivian. Personally I have no use for the Rivian. I wanted a truck as do most others waiting on the Lightning. It is full size for a reason.

I'm a bit concerned about the stat that Ford loves throwing around - apparently 75% of their reservations holders are new to Ford. How many of them are just like this - have no clue what they are getting into. Whether it be the size of the truck, or how an EV drives?

Despite it not being in 1-pedal driving mode you will still have regen. After 3 days you would love how that works and you would learn how to drive a modern vehicle without walking away. It truly just sounds like this was never the vehicle for you and you need to make the reasoning in your head to walk away from it. There is nothing wrong with that. The reasons you note about driving are just the way newer vehicles drive to a degree. What you note about Sport mode could be an issue. Kyle with OOS called Ford out however too.

To say the least, I hope you find the EV you want some day, I'm happy that Ford has made a full size truck and the demand shows that many others are too.

They made it too big....

You never see an F150 before?

Also, that's just trucks and pricing. It's a lot of metal and a lot of battery. You can buy a 4x4 for less than 40k and you want to talk about bare bones.

At the end of the day, I asked myself, "is this twice as good as the Bronco I paid $40K for?", and I just can't see it based on how it was built. YMMV though, and I am certain somebody will enjoy it.
this is how I feel about every version aside from the pro. The jumps in price are just too much, and it puts it into a price range that just doesn’t add up (for me).

I'm not going to respond to all of this, except to ask, can't I just not like it? Why do I have to like something because you all do? I don't have a deep dive analysis that led me to my decision. I saw it, disliked it, drove it, wasn't enamored enough with it to spend $80k, so I didn't buy it. It's just not that complicated.

Ya'll seem really defensive about me not liking this truck. Yes, I think it is too big, but I think that about nearly all full size trucks...they are giant vehicles that are mainly used as sedans carrying 1 person to work. My opinion aside, I thought this was a cool truck, cool concept, and I really liked the idea of an EV truck...but in person, in was impractically big for me. Sorry ya'll, i just don't think it is an $80K+ vehicle. I didn't see it, so I didn't buy it. It's just that simple.

For what I will use the truck for, the Pro is the only trim that makes sense. Will use for my small / sole proprietor business. Don’t need a moonroof, massaging seats, or the other items. Other than max tow, no other check boxes for me. Let’s hope @Ford increases the number made for MY2023. Oh, and add the work surface as an option ! A truck geared to business / fleet buyers should have that.

I cant see spending $80k for something you didn’t like on a test drive. If you disliked it for the brief time you had it, you would have probably hated it more every day. Yeah, you could have flipped and made a profit ….but that makes you as bad as the dealers charging ADM. And there is a complete thread about how much we all disliked that behavior by them…..it’s your money, do what you want.

I don’t know about where the OP lives, but around here you would have been hard pressed to find a truck on the lot to test drive….plus the whole dealing with salesperson….ugh…

Honestly, it wasn't a priority. I posted early, I wasn't vested in this process. If I liked it, I would get it. If not, I wouldn't. I was hoping the driving characteristics would help me get over the hurdle of not liking the size, but it didn't.

Well, you did make a thread about it, so you weren’t expecting everyone to just say “ok” and move on, did you? 😀 I think the front end design is a step down from the 2021/22 ICE trucks too (the light bar looks pretty shabby when not lit imo). The value proposition is a tough one, and it makes sense to me that it’s very personal. I consider it fortunate you were able to make a call on it and move on, and not beat yourself up with decision paralysis. Sounds healthy.

My electric motorcycle has the same sharp regen in sport mode, and it was jarring. However, in my case I adapted my throttle usage over a few weeks and don’t notice it now, so I‘m thinking a bit more time with the Lightning would have made that go away. However, I’m not arguing that maybe not, and you’d continue to dislike it.

I think it would be awesome to electrify your ‘64 C-10. How cool would that be?

No, not defensive at all. Not a fan of any brand. F150 is a full size truck, and you complain its size. That is simple not fair and does not make sense.

If Ford sells a smaller version EV and calls it a F150 EV, what will happen?

You don't like a full size truck, period. It has nothing to do with EV or our comments.

It's like you buy a commercial semi and complain that you cannot garage it. Exaggerated buy it is true.

If they want to save a bit of money to get a standard work surface going in all variants, that big a$$ shifter is needlessly complicated and really serves very little purpose in an EV.

Absolutely and one of the worst things ever. It is a perfect hand rest but that is all. I'm hopeful that it isn't locked out from D to R under a certain speed. One of the coolest things in the Tesla is you can change directions under 5 MPH - just hit the stalk. Best thing ever for parking, tight multi point turns, etc.

They even motorized this thing, it has to be a nightmare.

I'm just wondering why you would even make the first post? If I don't like something or don't see the value, I simply don't buy it. My ego is not so huge that I have to tell everyone that I don't like it and don't think the value is there. If someone asks for my opinion, I will give it, but I'm not going to force my thoughts or opinions on others (yes, you forced your opinion on all of us by creating the first post).

Reminds me of a Sports Night episode (I'm really dating myself there), where Jeramy feels he needs to tell everyone "I can't give blood" and everyone said OK. He was really looking for someone to question him why so he could give his reason.

Maybe this younger generation must have validation for every thought they have, much like how 'likes' or 'views' become the overriding desire.

Actually the shifter isn’t too bad. You get used to it pretty quickly, but yeah The Mercedes/Tesla shifter style can’t be beat
