Are we gonna see more of "it's just too big" from folks looking for electric but have little or no experience with a truck?

Not ragging on the OP, just thinking out loud.

I see lots of folks with reservations for a Lightning and no experience with a full sized truck. It can be a bit intimidating for some folks, I would imagine.

I've owned a 1 ton dually before and had no trouble getting through drive throughs etc....but had many folks comment on how big it was
Yes. I’m one. I have a Ridgeline today and every time I park next to a brand new F-250 or a new Sierra I think it’s enormous. I almost didn’t place my order because of it.

The Ranger is more to my size liking. But there isn’t an EV truck available. So I put my Pro order in, and I have my Rivian order in and…we’ll see.

My opinion, everytime I stand next to one. Climb into one. Sit in one as a passenger, my head goes - this thing is huge. It’s absurdly huge. But I’ve been forcing myself to rent a ICE f-150L everytime I get a rental car and it always drives really not much different than my Ridgeline - in terms of size feel, and moving it around in a parking lot, parallel, the visibility is great. It does t really feel big until I try to climb out of it again.

I'm just wondering why you would even make the first post? If I don't like something or don't see the value, I simply don't buy it. My ego is not so huge that I have to tell everyone that I don't like it and don't think the value is there. If someone asks for my opinion, I will give it, but I'm not going to force my thoughts or opinions on others (yes, you forced your opinion on all of us by creating the first post).

Reminds me of a Sports Night episode (I'm really dating myself there), where Jeramy feels he needs to tell everyone "I can't give blood" and everyone said OK. He was really looking for someone to question him why so he could give his reason.

Maybe this younger generation must have validation for every thought they have, much like how 'likes' or 'views' become the overriding desire.
I don't get the feeling they were doing it for the likes or views. Since deliveries started people have been posting about how great it is and how much they love it and all that. @rugbysecondrow just had a different take and in the spirit of the whole forum, shared their thoughts and feedback on the truck. They aren't in here telling everyone how dumb they are for buying it but saying how it wasn't right for them, that's all

I found the opinion helpful. There was a lot of good things said about the car, but it was a value proposition issue for the OP which I get.

It especially made me feel better about my $40K F150L Pro though.

If we’ve been watching videos in anticipation of getting one, the OP really hasn’t said anything different than Kyle from Out of Spec reviews.

I did really want a full sized truck EV as a daily driver, but a. this is the only EV with decent range that can get four dog crates in the cabin, b. serves well on the farm, c. rare towing I will need to do, and d. has ground clearance for gravel road and flooding.

I had my eye on the VW ID. Buzz, but the Lightning is better solution for me. It took a bit to realize this, but looking forward to it fitting my my needs.

For reference, I ordered a Ford Lariat ER. I drive a 21' Volvo XC 90, a 21' 2 dr Bronco...so you know how to interpret my opinion based on what I drive.

I have to say, I was disappointed with how it looked, felt, and drove in Sport mode, especially for the $80K price tag.

The Good:
-The truck is quick. It is very quick from the start, fast at 45 MPH, and fast at 65MPH. No matter your speed, when you put the pedal down...it just moves and climbs quickly.
-It corners well, really well. I felt stupid confident on exit ramps, even at speed, with the truck. It stayed seated and felt like it was on rails.
-The plugs, ports, etc are great.
-The frunk is ample and I love that use of space.
-Driving in Normal Mode was great and felt good.

The Bad:-The front end and grill look very cheap, and I was very underwhelmed, especially for an $80k vehicle.
-The wheels look terrible.
-Sport mode was fast, but I hated how it drove. The truck lunged too much and any relief off the "gas"pedal, caused it to slow dramitcally (it was not in 1-pedal mode)
-Personal Preference, they made this vehicle way too big.

Overall, I would really like it in the $50K range, but at $80K, I just can't make the connection.

I hope this doesn't rain on anybody's parade.
That's too bad you didn't like it. You do know the loaded XLTs are selling for around 77,500. For 2500 bucks, the lariat you ordered is a very good deal. No worries, the dealership will be able to sell to....everybody and anybody. Hopefully, a customer waiting in line with a reservation....like any of us. I'm still waiting for an invite to order one....
Cheers.

This is a forum, people make posts sharing their opinions on various aspects of the main topic...the Ford Lightning.

I'm sorry if that offended your generational sensibilities.

Yes it is a forum, and It is a Ford full size pickup truck forum. It just does not make sense to complain its size here...

Sport mode is nothing but a change in throttle pedal mapping. Like others, it is an F150, not a Ranger or a Maverick. What is surprising about the size? I sold my Bronco OB Squatch, never really bonded with it.

Silly kids. The dealer already sold it for 40k over asking….
And the person who bought it probably feels pretty lucky they "only" paid $40k over LOL.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Lightning. It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.
Hopefully it meets the expectations of many of us.
