Cordless impact wrench for light home use?

I’m looking for a good all around battery operated impact wrench for light home use. I’ve borrowed my neighbor’s for the last time last week doing my brakes lol.

Anyone have a preference? Mid torque (350ish) or high (750ish)? I’ve been looking at mostly dewalt and Milwaukee fuel, but open to suggestions. My neighbors is a cheaper craftsman that works pretty good, but doesn’t have the greatest reviews.

Are you in either the 20V DeWalt or 18V Milwaukee ecosystems? In other words, do you already have batteries for either?

I have a mid Tq Milwaukee1 18v 1/2" drive and it is adequate for lugs that are not crazy over-tightened and most other things. LIke @KBKEITH mentioned, I would pick a camp and stick with it, that way in the future you can grab other tools of the same platform and swap batteries.

You just can’t go wrong with Milwaukee and Porter Cable. I personally think Milwaukee is better.

Yea, I do have a 20v dewalt drill, I’m sure the 20v Max batteries would work but would probably go up to a larger one on the impact (4ah) or so.

I’ve got some dewalt and Milwaukee products and going forward I’m going to stick with the Milwaukee systems if I need any others. They both perform fine and I’ve had no problems with either since it’s all residential/ light use for me but the Milwaukee’s have a better feel IMO. If you’re going to get one you can’t go wrong with either of those but I’d go with Milwaukee.

yea, I’ve never bought Milwaukee but the reviewers online seem to like them a lot.

I would go to Harbor Freight and buy a Bauer 20V impact wrench

100% the batteries are half the cost so if you already have dewalt sticking with that line would be a good choice.

I have a pair of the 1/4 drive Dewalts
a couple of air impacts and a Dewalt 1/2 drive electric.
I usually break stuff loose with a breaker bar and socket, then the little 1/4” to rattle them off.

tighten the same way, rattle them snug, then manually tighten if they need more than the little guy is capable of.

gotta say tho, that 1/2” 120vac has never struggled with anything, and I play with very old cars that are pretty much rusted together and really don’t need bolts to hold them together.

the little 1/4”, I used that for screws while residing and replacing windows in my house. Handy, light, battery lasts quite awhile.

As others have said, pick a manufacturer and stick with them for your other tools to stay in the same battery landscape. I have a lot of M12/M18 for general contracting and just got this M18 high torque. I have used it at a marina I work at and has never let me down.

I have that very same tool. It’s a beast!

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up getting the Dewalt 20v high torque model. That Milwaukee Fuel is rated the best, but I figured I can use the Dewalt batteries on my drill and saw as well. Thanks again.
