My goal is to get the F150 Lightning Pro, or Std Range XLT (some options are desirable). I'll take whatever I can get for the tax credit, as I get the full $ 7500 on the MMe I purchased this year and will trade in on the Lightning. If I'd gotten the Lightning this year, I would not have gotten the MMe - though it is a blast to drive. :)

If I get an invite for MY 23, I plan to defer, if that's an option. Hopefully, the Silverado EV comes on line in 2024 and is competitive. Fingers crossed my 10 yr old ICE truck lasts a couple more years to handle my hauling/towing and other truck duties. I plan to use the F150L (or Silverado) as a DD and of course, as a truck.

I will have to look at replacing my ICE DD, possibly with an EV. The Bolt's price is attractive, but if the seats are as uncomfortable as reviewers say they are, the Bolt will be a hard "no". 20K miles/yr commuting in hard, crappy seats, no thanks.

7-9K price increase, no tax incentives for ER, 22MY ordering priority BS, and now 23MY ordering priority BS just kills it for me.

Don't get me wrong, the lightning is interesting, but the initial buzz has been replaced with Meh especially since I work from home 4/5 day.

If I wanted a pickup I'd just grab a maverick for <$25K as a second vehicle and call it a day.

I would like to reserve/order a 2023. I don't have a 2022 reservation and it doesn't look like I'll be able to place a 2023 order until all the 2022s have converted? How does this work?

22’s will be converted at end of August. If you’re not wave 1 or 2 for the MY23 you can order in Sept going forward, dependent on wave

I'm pretty sure that's not how it works.

Those waves going forward are for people who currently have reservations. Ford never claimed people without reservations will somehow be included in future waves.

How would Ford even know to send somebody a wave invite if they don't have a reservation?

I read it wrong. I thought they had a reservation. Disregard

Because of my reservation date, I wasn’t expecting delivery until 2024 anyway. If I get asked to order I will try to defer so I can see how the market shakes out in 2023. Ford was on the verge of losing the tax credit anyway so I don’t see any point in crying about the tax credit on higher trim levels, at least the tax credit will help some people.

There is one bright side. With tax credit for the Lariat ER being completely out of the question. I won’t have to skimp on options just so I can qualify for the credit. I would hate to have to pass up on an option that I really wanted later on.

There is still nothing on the market that can do what the F150L can do except for maybe Rivian. If I give up my reservation I would have to wait at least another year to get something else and prices might be even worse by then. I guess my biggest worry is that so many people will cancel their reservations, I will be asked to order before I’m ready.

So that's what I'm asking... I don't have an original reservation... so how can I order a 2023?

You can't. Nobody knows when reservations will open back up. Maybe the end of '23 for a '24 model.

You can’t. There are so many reservations all the 2023s are already sold. You might be able to order a 2024 but don’t count on it.

Specifically, 200,000 reservations were taken. Say 18,000 get filled this year, that leaves 182,000 people in front of you, less cancellations. I would be surprised if you can order before sometime in calendar year 2024, because all of 2023's production won't clear the reservations out unless the cancellation rate is pretty high.

Probably going Pro, katskinz, Wheels and Tires, aftermarket for front and tail light bars. If pro allocation gets limited then pushed to 2024, I’m probably out.
Been waiting since 2020 for the bronco (went through that shit show) then canceled for the Lightning.
Patience is wearing thin and considering buying a Tesla and calling it a day.

I disagree. Ford could have sold them at the 2022 price level not at the 2023 level. The Pro at $39K was a great deal now it's at $47K. No 2023 ER Lighting will qualify for the rebate. Most people will not pay $85K for a truck with cloth seats. And $85K if you are lucky enough to get a dealer that will not add an additional $10-15K ADM.

Yikes! we in the 2022 model year got, are getting, a steal! Man I would think twice about it now, esp, since the tax credit changed for income and the 80k. Would still get it but would be a nose holder. So thankful I got it this year.
a common theme in each of these types of responses: an apparent assumption that MY23 ICE trucks are not about to see their own significant price increases. We’ll see

if I were forced to bet, I would bet that the price increases we’re seeing for the MY23 F150Ls are scaling similar to forthcoming price increase for MY23 ICE trucks (with arguably a little bit of kicker to the EVs for lithium-specific inflation issues)

I think it will be a while. Maybe a year or more before they start taking more reservations or opening the order banks to people without reservations.

Your best chance at getting a Lightning is to buy one already on the lot at a dealership. The downside of this is that any truck on the lot will likely have a huge markup.
