Sun Run is quoting me about $14k for 2.13kw solar and the HIS system installed. Seems pretty reasonable price if you factor in the 30% tax credit which brings it down to about $9.8k. You’re basically getting the solar for free.

2.13kw in solar panels for $4,200 seems a. steep and b. way too small. Also, if HIS does not allow charging the truck when the grid is down (which SunRun has told more than one on this site) it is a joke of a solution. If you can run your house and charge your truck during the day, and off the truck at night, you could manage a long term outage, otherwise, battery will run out...

They quoted me 15k for 8 panels, HIS and charger install. Since I already have solar they built it based off electricity needed only for the truck and it’s their minimum size they will install.

also remember you get 30% tax credit back in 2023 in the new IRA bill I think. 4% on 13k is another $500

I’m not sure I follow how you came up with $4,200 for solar? The quote was $14k for solar and HIS or about $9.8k after tax credit.

It was the same for me as well. Existing solar. Just adding more to offset more of the bill.

Sorry, have seen the HIS for $9xxx, and conflated the two. Ask them how much w/o solar.

Anyone know if you can claim tax credit when installing additional solar? Eg. already have solar but want to install more panels or new system. It wasn’t very clear to me when I was searching the internet.

probably should check with your tax person, but when our inverter died we ended up expanding our solar array and replacing inverters…and taking tax credit. but if we had just replaced the inverter it would have been maintenance and not eligible for tax credit. That was in 2018.
