2022 Lightning Lariat ER
I feel like they needed another option below poor.

Don't let Ford bully you into buying more truck than you want. I also was Pro or nothing, by the time these trucks are readily available there will be enough competitors that you will get what you want for what you want to pay.
Pro ER is the one the logical part of my brain really wants. But they don't exist. XLT+ ER is the one that I would be happiest with if I don't think too hard about the price. Lariat is both unjustifiably expensive, and has that moon roof that I actively dislike....

I agree. Dealers are already starting to return calls with available trucks if you're willing to pay a markup. Lots of people are going to drop out of their reservation with the combination of new prices and no tax credit. 18 months from now only the Pros will be hard to come by, and even then the cap on the markup will be the XLT price. Wait a year rather than letting Ford push your budget into more truck than you signed up for.

Whomever was in charge of Ford's models and pricing dropped the ball. Especially on the XLT, the XLT can't win.

The XLT SR feels way overpriced compared to the Pro.
The XLT ER feels like a waste of money considering the Lariat ER is only $5k more.

Preproduction model shown. Available starting fall 2022.
Your feedback will help move us forward.
Hi BRUCE,

Thank you for reserving an F-150® Lightning™. Your front seat to the all-electric future is coming. To help move us forward with production planning, we need some details from you about the truck you plan to order. The information you provide will help us determine when to reach out to you again about ordering. Note that we expect nearly all of our current reservation holders will be invited to order by next summer.

Please take a moment to respond by September 26th, 2022 and help us get closer to moving your F-150 Lightning from our assembly line to your driveway.

Received an hour ago and submitted answers. XLT SR and willing to bribe to get to order early.

So I have a dilemma, I got the first email about getting ready to order soon. Followed by an email from my dealer saying I should be seeing an invite on the next wave. Now I received the survey that say to respond by 9/26. I can really only afford to order a Pro after the price increases. If they are already intending to send me an invite next week I gotta imagine answering this survey will be shooting myself in the foot... What to do??? 🤔 On the other hand failure to answer it may make the situation even worse?

The model selection page showed the ER battery as an option for the XLT and Lariat non-plus models, but if you selected those the larger battery wasn't available on the options page of the survey.
Hey, bop on over to the survey thread, it has lots of screenshots. I posted one for the the Lariat non-plus options and it did offer the ER battery for a whopping $12,500 as one of the options. Amazing since they showed the Lariat + has ER, BC, tow tech, etc for only $11,500 more. That doesn't really make sense.

So why not just order next wave (9/7) and either answer the survey later or disregard it?

That may be the move, I can wait to see if I do get the invite next week and go from there. Is this survey anonymous or are they tracking it by customer I wonder. Like if you say something now and they don't let you change your mind later...

Just a warning, for the 2 special waves of reservation extensions (while different than this survey), anyone who extended their reservation on a model other the Pro was not allowed to order the Pro.

It seems the survey may be unique to each reservation, at least it seems that way if people are insinuating that saying you're only interested in a Pro will delay your ordering ability.

I think they specifically addressed me by name, so it’s tied to your reservation. I don’t think answering it faster will get you any brownie points, so why not just wait a week to answer? Just my 2cents of course.

This way everyone is very clear on the process and knows upfront that there is a chance to receive early, but not guaranteed based on order volume and production schedule...not a dealer with 0 info guesstimating on Fords behalf.

Thoughts?
skeptic in me believes that what you’ve just described toward the end is the sort of mystery that is desired by Ford

when people believe a product is inherently rare in number, interest drops

when people instead believe a product is rare due to demand, interest is exponential

accordingly, there’s a balancing act for Ford here; retain enough people on the list to be able to blame supply primarily on “unexpected” or “unprecedented” demand - which keeps the list growing.

Just one guy’s worldview

I appreciate all the insight you have brought to this discussion from the world of luxury watches and handbags—all stuff I’d never heard of before. However, with today’s survey email I’d say we can safely bury your theory that Ford is somehow on another level marketing wise and is doing all this to build “mystery “. Because the one thing you can’t do when trying to build this ….is asking your customers how they think you should do it. Like a magician giving away the trick before performing it.

So the survey gesture won’t tend to keep people in the back of a long line?

How did you answer the survey? I wonder if choosing a more expensive option gets you bumped to the front.
I answered Lariat Ext. Battery. Always wanted that configuration. The price is now an extra $5k
