Great! I would followup with an email to [email protected]. Send her your VIN, address, what you ordered, and receipt you received. Ask her to update ford pass Monday (she is out today) as you heard the rates are increasing Tuesday. She is inundated right now but told me she would act on our purchase Monday if the dealer marked as sold as that is required to enter into Ford's extended warranty system. If the VIN is entered on Tuesday then only the new price would apply and the dealer will not eat the delta.@Granger Ford website payment system is down. I have tried 4 times to purchase a 8/100 plan in the last 24 hours. Not sure what's up.
EDIT. It worked on my phone. $1210 for 8 years/100,000 miles Premium plan. A steal.
Unfortunately it seems ours didn't arrive today although the cashiers check from bank arrived FedEx an hour ago. Dealer was willing to get all paperwork done so our rate didn't expire and go up a percent on Tuesday, it was only good for 2 months then re-apply needed. I was upfront with dealer on the great Graner deal at 50$ over cost. He said it was a good price but they didn't sell Ford anyway, they had their own. He said for a new EV design like this with so much electronics that 1K for 8 years is probably a good idea, one event could pay for the cost. That was my thinking as we normally never do extended warranties but seems worth it in this particular case. We added the lighting option on as I imagine one light could be 1000 to replace as they are all sealed. I think I saw that this warranty also includes the charger which based on early date on temperature measurement might not last eight years. If I'm reading the EV extended warranty correctly and that is covered, then that is another reason to do as they charger will be used alot.
A note on NY trade-ins, I didn't know that you received the full value of the tradein applied so that no NYS tax is due on that portion. So a private sale of car would have to be over 8.125% higher to make it worth it.
Do people test drive the new vehicle before they hand over the final payment and close? Even if our extended warranty goes up 10-15% I think worth it to check things out before handing over payment early given last minute rush module delivery surprises to date and the rush to ship cars.
On another cautionary tale, dealer told us on phone today that three sales people are out sick with Covid since our 2 hour visit early Friday. We were only people wearing mask in the whole large dealership. Not a time to let down your guard or your new lightning maybe be driverless for while! The rumors of Covid being over is wishful thinking.
