Wow. Very cool. Sounds expensive, though.

Makes sense for them to have commonality with certain aspects of the semi/cyber truck to make scaling production easier.

IMO This is a good thing for the future of the Lightning, since Ford will have to start competing on features/price or risk losing market share. I’m hoping Ford goes all in on retaining their dominance in the truck market and puts out a vastly improved next gen Lightning. After seeing how Tesla has crushed the high end sedan and crossover market, I’m sure they see the magnitude of Teslas competitive threat in the EV space once Cybertruck production kicks into high gear.

To be accurate, they said the megawatt charger will be compatible with the CT, they didn't say the CT would have 1000v architecture or what the max charge rate would actually be.

Still, it points to some amazing specs (hopefully).

Whatever Ford is doing for the next gen EV truck is very likely already locked in. The factory is under construction and if they start building in a year or 2 their design and suppliers are already likely locked in too.

This Cybertruck architecture is likely some of what has delayed it. I doubt Ford is going to go chasing (if they didn't already design at this level) and take a delay.

This is what most claim they are waiting on though - long range and charging that doesn't take 45 minutes to go from 20 to 80.

Now we'll see if people are willing to pay for it. It's not going to be cheap.

even if it doesn't have a larger battery or more range than the lightning, being able to charge it up in 10-15 minutes sort of solves the range anxiety problem. hopefully ford can ramp up the charge speed.

Maybe in the next gen truck, but this was one of Fords biggest slights on this current truck. Even a 4 year old model 3 can take a higher charge with a battery half the size.
