How to purchase HIS now (1/2023)

Hello,

I notice the website AEEexpress, is no longer active and there's a new website requiring an account to buy the HIS. Has anybody purchased here before? Sunrun has been jacking me around all month and I think i'm going to hire this out.

Don't know anything about the AEExpress web site you speak of. But SunRun is the sole supplier of the bi-direction inverter and disconnect unit that pairs with the Ford Charge Station Pro. The only way to get the HIS to work as intended is to purchase through SunRun. And yes, they're terrible to work with. In many places they're just the middle man who coordinates local contractors to quote and do the work and then they add a hefty % on top along with being the sole supplier of necessary components. It's a terrible setup... Hopefully Ford will change this at some point.

EDIT> Oh, looking about I've seen some more AEExpress references and it seems they're a provider in Texas and a few places that SunRun doesn't operate. Did SunRun or Ford direct you to that site? If you're in a market that SunRun does not serve and won't contract with local providers, you can buy the hardware from them and hire your own local installers. But this whole thing is such a mess... Ford should have just handled the hardware sales themselves and not partnered with SunRun or anyone else specifically on this. I think they were trying for consistency in a turn-key solution to customers but it has backfired spectacularly.

AEExpress tightened up the process selling to licensed contractors only, several members were able to make purchases as retail unlicensed buyers, but I'm not sure they would sell direct now, you could inform the electrician you're hiring to acquire the hardware for your project

yes, that's what i'm looking for. I am contracting this work out now since su nrun has been very bad to deal with, even as so much as to try and get my FCSP from them. I did find that new site and saw they needed a registration, as you stated. I do have a licensed electrician now who's going to come out Saturday and give me his price to do this.

Looks like there is still a customer page separate from the “installer page“ so I believe anyone can still purchase the system like I did back in May of last year.

I would get the 10 KW inverter just because its the same price and gives you flexibility to increase the size of your system. I have the 10 KW and I’m installing enough panels to do the full 10 KW for back up purposes.
