Ford Trailer Camera, TPMS, Yaw Kit Installation! DIY Instructions & Part # Numbers

Step 1: Check and confirm the truck is setup for the camera.
- Check center screen camera to see if trailer camera is enabled. Blue screen = enabled.

- Check for 12 blade connector. This was on a 2022 build w/ Max Tow & Tow Tech.

Step 2: Order parts. I used Full Kit Part# LC3Z-1A189-A. The LC3Z kits are for a F-250, but it worked just fine. There's also part numbers for the F-150 specific and will start with ML3Z. The part number is the same "1A189" It's just ML3Z vs LC3Z to indicate F-150 vs F-250. So ML3Z-1A189-A is the exact same kit with a different part number.

The last letter will dictate whether it's TPMS only, Camera only, TPMS+Camera, or Yaw Sensor or not. The plug replacement is the same for all of them, only the harness and accompanying modules differs. My "A" kit accommodates all of the modules and included everything but the yaw sensor (aka w/ Pro Backup Assist)

"A" is Cam + TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"B" is TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"C" is Cam w/ Yaw Prep
"D" is Cam + TPMS w/o Yaw Prep
"E" is TPMS w/o yaw Prep
"F" is Cam w/o yaw Prep

Step 3: Disconnect the 12 pin connector from the holder and release the 7/4 pin connector from the bumper.


Step 4: Disconnect the 7/4 pin connector from the wiring harness, connect the new included connector for 7 pin / aux connector, and push it back into the bumper.


Step 5: Connect the 12 pin connector to the new 7 pin/aux connector and check to ensure a tight fit.


Step 6: Plug in the camera.


Step 7: Climb into the truck and confirm everything is operational. Continue running and positioning your camera onto your trailer of choice.


Total install time (excluding trailer install) is less than 15 minutes.
- No tools were required.
- The spare does NOT need to be dropped.
- No programming needed.

I didn't have a ton of time this morning, but took about 5 minutes to do some checks before I set off on a full install.

Good news, it works!! At least the camera portion. Still need to test the TPMS and yaw sensor - still need to buy the yaw sensor too.

I'll update the original post with some cleaned up info at a later date but here's a picture of a it temporarily rigged for testing.

Having a hard time fixing in mind where this connection is being made.

Any chance we can get another photo taken further away that shows the whole bumper center section.

That is great news! Honestly, for my needs I'd be happy with just the camera. If any of the other stuff works, that'd just be icing on top.

The camera only kit is even cheaper! I don't remember the letter for that one but I think it was half the price of the one with everything. In hindsight, we really don't need the YAW sensor since we have the ability to use the stickers and I could've saved a couple of bucks. All I really wanted was the TPMS and the camera.

Ask and you shall receive. You'll see the hitch and spare and hopefully that will help orient you. You'll want to be on the drivers side. If you don't see orange electrical tape, you're likely on the wrong side of the truck.

Another point of reference. Facing the truck, just locate the 7 pin connector (left of the license plate) the plugs are directly behind there.

There's F150 specific kits, but they seem to be on backorder or just generally harder to find. The F-250 Kits seem to be readily accessible, especially on eBay.

The "F" kit is the camera only kit that you're looking for.

"A" is Cam + TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"B" is TPMS w/ Yaw Prep
"C" is Cam w/ Yaw Prep
"D" is Cam + TPMS w/o Yaw Prep
"E" is TPMS w/o yaw Prep
"F" is Cam w/o yaw Prep

For reference the F-150 specific part number is ML3Z-1A189-F. The part number is the same being "1A189" and the lettering schemes are the same to indicate which kit. It's just the first 3 digits of LC3 vs ML3 that are different that differs for F-150 vs F-250. Either kit will work with our truck, I used the F-250 kit myself (LC3Z-1A189-A) as I was able to source it for half the price of the F-150 kit.
