Taillight Sensor

I’ve had my 23 Lariat ER since early November, and have loved it! I’ve just recently had one hiccup that was my fault, but I do have a question. I was backing out of my yard the other day, and ran into another one of my vehicles that was parked. It was drizzling rain, the back up camera was included, and no sensors went off. I busted my passenger side, tail light.

Do I understand correctly that the tail lights have a sensor built-in? As I mentioned above, no alarms, went off, letting me know that I was about to make a costly mistake!

The sensors for obstacle detection are in the bumper.
The sensor in the taillights is for blindspot monitoring.
The bumper sensors might not detect a high up intrusion and they can also be toggled off.

The backup sensors are in the bumper. The radar emitter for BLIS is in the taillight.

When I try to back into my driveway fast, it always slams on the break because it is tight on both sides but the same path going slow does not activate the break but I do get other warnings so the rain must have messed them up.

Please let us know if you swapped the taillight yourself. I am curious if it is easy or need calibration of some sort for the sensor that need especial tools or processes.

I wish we could get a hold of a tech training manual.

I definitely will post an update as to what I have to do to get it up and working again. Hopefully it’ll just be plug and play?!

So….I got my ‘new-old’ taillight today. When I plugged it in and trying to drive the truck, I got a Blindspot sensor failure notice. All of the lights work, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to overcome this sensor failure?!

The blindspot monitoring sensor is program-paired with the vehicle. You'll need to transfer over your old sensor to the new tail light, if it's broken or you're unable to, you'll need to have a dealership program the new sensor.
