But the Lightning can power all that with the pricey system from SunRun. Right?
the MAX power output of the LIGHTNING will always be your limiting factor, which is 9.6kw or 40amps at 240 volts, with the HIS system. It will be limited to 30amps at 240 volts if you manually use the bed's 30amp outlet, instead.
Your power needs in your home will ALWAYS dictate whether you can do 'all, or 'everything' at once... but, rarely do people do 'everything' when power is out, or a catastrophe has occurred - they generally then do the MINIMUM...

to me, the 'sun run' HIS 'pricey' system is so much overkill, although a few have deployed, and probably most have had some type of issue... I don't think it's quite perfected just yet... I, personally, would never spend that type of money for such a rarely, if ever, used 'system', but some obviously will go to that extreme... I can get by QUITE NICELY with just making use of the outlets from the truck, whether integrated thru my main panel, or simply extension cords for the bare necessities.

I couldn't agree more with this. I don't think Ford should run ads showing a F150L powering a house until this comes to pass.
Just like GM shouldn't show ads of people self driving with their hands off the wheel, such a disingenuous ad.

I am new to the Lightning, so I am asking not telling. But everything I've read on this forum and others have stated using the HIS system the Lightning using the full 80A of the Ford Charge Pro station in reverse.

So while 80A won't power some houses, many houses use less than 100A on a daily basis, so 80A should theoretically power most all houses.

Which just made me realize something. I wonder if the 2024 Lightning losing the two onboard charges going to just one can still power a house?

... but that "not running the oven" thing killed that dream...
typical ovens, stoves, etc rarely ever use the WHOLE amperage they are attached to, meaning that using only ONE of the stove top burners will be easy for the truck's 30amp output from the bed. Using the Oven will also work, regardless of whether it is attached to a 50amp breaker, if you don't use it on HIGH, or both the Top and Bottom burners at the same time, etc.

Most all stove and ovens are on 50amp double-pole 240v breakers because they CAN pull clost to that IF you are doing EVERYTHING all at ONCE... but, in situations where you are using a generator or the TRUCK's power, you are not going to be doing 'everything' at once... you are going to do the MINIMUM to get by, until full power is restored. No worries. Don't worry about the 'breaker' amounts, as that does NOT determine whether you can use part of your stove or oven, even if only on '30amps' of power...

'Powering a house' is the term where people get confused. There is no 'amount' of power that is required to power a house, it's simply more about how much power the house 'needs', or is being 'used' at any given moment...

so, you can feed a home with a generator that is MUCH SMALLER than any utility power that would normally come into the home, but the home still has 'whole house' power: Whole House power is simply power coming into the MAIN PANEL of the home, giving ALL outlets and appliances 'power'.

Now, sometimes people think that since a generator, or the LIGHTNING, can 'only' provide 30amps or 40amps of 240v output, their home 'can't' have the whole house with power: That is incorrect. The 'whole house' WILL have power, but, the power is 'limited' to the maximum that the generator can provide.

You can have the LIGHTNING, even my PRO's 30amp 240v bed outlet, give your WHOLE HOUSE power. You can switch on the lights. You can keep charging your laptop and phones. You can run the microwave. Your 240v Water Heater can continue providing hot water. You can even run the 240v 30amp AIR CONDITIONER system, if you are careful in your choices of what is 'ON' at any given time. Your truck will TELL YOU if you are asking for 'too much' power, or will even switch itself OFF if you ask for too much.
If it does, you manage your power requirements by turning certain items off, then turn the Truck's ProPower back on to reset your power.

Easy. But, no matter 'which' system you use: the HIS 'Whole House' integrated Automated system, or a MANUAL method from the bed outlets, you will always have to be 'aware' of what you are asking it to power, and understand the 'numbers' of amperages, in total. You can watch your truck's ProPower Output Screen to see, 24/7... or even from your Ford Pass APP.

You are confusing AC and DC power. HIS runs on DC power from the truck. The FCSP is used for comms/signaling between the truck and HIS but it's not used for actual power conversion when pulling DC power from the truck. The HIS inverter (Delta) determines the amount of AC power converted from DC power from the truck. AFAIK, the largest HIS inverter AC power capacity available is 10kW (~42A).

Well I'm really glad you're explaining this. Before if I wasn't a customer before I sure ain't now.

So using the expensive Sunrun option gets you 40A of capability but using the plug and play method of an old school generator switch gets you 30A of capability?

right on... take the easy route and do it yourself. You can always 'upgrade' to the HIS, if you ever wish - I'll bet you won't.
