JFC. Total estimated cost is $12,700! I could buy three Enphase AC batteries for that cost.

Legit surprised they did not learn from the failure of the HIS. Everyone wants backup power, but no one wants it at that price, especially when you can do you own whole or partial backup for ~1/3 of the cost.

I have a back up system. It is called an extension cord. Unless you are loosing power regularly, a little inconvenience is not gonna kill you.

FYI that price includes a battery wall. They also have:
V2H Bundle for $7300. Includes 80A Charger, Home Hub, Inverter & Dark Start Battery
V2H Enablement Kit for $5400 includes Home Hub, Inverter & Dark Start Battery. This is comparable to HIS for those that already own the $1700 charger.

Note all prices are equipment only, not including installation. But agree - still too expensive.

You are correct sir!

Here is mine!

And it powers the whole house!

This is what @Ford Motor Company and the other OEMs should be pushing.

Nope! All taken care of in that collar. Plus those breakers in the cable protect the truck/generator.
That looks sweet. Getting lost on Tesco site. Do you happen to have part number or link to those?

I put in my request to PG&E for one of those meters, but since I'm not in a fire hazard area I'm expecting it will be denied. Hopefully they will eventually open it up to more locations. Since we don't have A/C I'm sure i can easily run the entire house from the 240v outlet on the truck.

Mine came for free from my local utility - PG&E in Northern California. I believe the utilities have an arrangement with Tesco. Check with your utility first.

I believe they are OEMing a device from Generlink:

https://www.globalpowerproducts.com/transfer-switches/generlink-transfer-switch/

Do be careful with this device though. I have read it does not support the bonded neutral issue like the Tesco unit does.

There is also another startup making them:

https://connectder.com/products/solar-meter-adapter/

And some company called Tesla:

From what I’ve read (it’s been 6 months ago), the ConnectDER only supports connection to grid-tied solar or an EVSE, not backup power.

Some things to keep in mind with these meter collar solutions:

no vendor appear to have a 400A panel compatible option yet.

the Tesla solution is clearly only for use with the power wall. I do not see any mention of buying it for this type of purpose.

I was informed by my PGE installer that these are not auto transfer switches. You have to take the loads down, plug in and then bring the loads back online.

I applied for one of these and PG&E came out to do the install. The guy gets here and says, I can't install it on your panel, your panel isn't a supported panel, not sure how it was approved in the first place. We upgraded our panel 2 years ago to a 200A Square D panel. Nothing special but it is a ringless panel and was approved by PG&E back for the service upgrade. 🙃

???

Do you have an integrated meter and panel?

Mine are separate.
