I put these 285/75/18 Nitto tires on some 2018 ICE wheels to get some more ground clearance and a better look. I have a 2" front level kit from Rough Country to make this work.

To be honest, I am not sure it is worth the mileage hit (~25% loss). I might just keep these on for the summer offroading season and go back to my Lightning 18s on stock tires this Fall.

Running those, at -25% loss is always way better than paying $3.79 per gallon for unleaded, LOL! 🤣. Was paying $2.42 at our location but recently went up to $3.05 a gallon. Glad we don’t have to deal with that, go EV!

The hit probably isn't as bad as it seems. About 8.4% of the apparent range hit is the tire size. You'll cover more ground for every rotation but that won't show on your gauges unless you do a speedo/odometer correction. that probably means you are 15-16% actual range hit primarily from the additional rolling resistance.
Looks good though ;-)

Good point. I thought of that a few nights ago but forgot to put it in my post.

I figure with this knowledge, theoretically, the range on my dashboard should deplete at a slower rate than expected right? For example:

The truck thinks I am getting 1.6 mi/kwh. So, it will give me a range of say 200 miles and my destination is 150 miles away. However, due to the rolling diameter error, consumption is actually, say, 1.8 mi/kwh. So as I drive, I would expect to be using less energy than the truck originally estimates and, therefore, again in theory, I would expect to arrive with a bit more range left than the 50 miles originally indicated.

Agreed? I will have to test this out and see if its true.

I don't have that much faith in the range calculator in NAV and even less faith in the GOM ;-). In theory, it should work that way after the truck adjusts to the new "driving" conditions. In practice, I'm not sure it will but let us know how it does.

I think you can correct the speedo/odometer error using Forescan if you are technically savvy and adventurous. Others might know how to do that. That might cause NAV to give you more accurate numbers.

Just a thought, but, has anyone thought of adding a 2 or 3 inch extension on the active air dam to make up for the increased height. I wonder if a Lightning with just a 2 inch lift and an extension would mitigate the aero loss.:unsure:

Interesting idea. Or, for long road trips, one big static airdam like some of the other Fords and the new Tacoma
