never going back to ICE again either. I have been on the bandwagon for many years. Have owned Lightning, Model Y, Model S and Rivian R1S. Have driven Mach-E, Ionic 5, EV 6, Mercedes EQS, Silverado EV, and several more. The lightning is far better than the Cheaprolet Silverado EV. It handles far better and has far better materials. The AC vent control literally fell off in my hand during my test drive of the silverado. Everything about it felt cheap and lumbering. Was extremely happy to keep my Lightning.

Not to get into a debate about Elon, but the Tesla's just work. Their software updates consistently with flawless charging and driving. I have had great experience with service as well. My lighting software is always behind, never know what is happening and the dealer experience is terrible.

But, never going back, planning to drive my lightning until it dies.

First, great thread here from someone that DOES NOT yet own a Lighting. Great to read and see the love for this vehicle.

I am curious of this group of Lightning evangelists, how many of you went with the 9.6kw pro pack? I am looking at a Flash lease and am trying to decide whether this is a feature I would use. Our house literally never looses power (lucky) so I don't envision ever having a need to use it for V2L.

@Jamchampnate, would you mind sharing your set up here? Curious about the tent, toneau cover and racks as I envision setting my future Lighting up similarly.
The 9.6 pro pack was one of my must haves. I have solar with Battery b/u, but just having the option if I went some where and need to help out w/power was important to me...

I got Pro Power just for outages which are becoming more frequent as the climate becoming is becoming more energetic. I have a rollup tonneau cover which keeps the bed (and the bed rug I put in it) clean and free from snow and I like it it a lot. Of course the 15 hour outage happened when the truck was being built but I guess it's not the last time I'll need the backup :).

It’s my fourth EV. Not going back to ICE ever. And it’s also by far the best EV I’ve had.
BMW i3>model s performance > model x plaid.
Actually liked my i3 the second most. But nothing is close to the lightning.

I need max tow, 9.6kw pro power is packaged with it. I do think I’ll end up running a welder with it at some point.

I won a 2023 Ford Lightning XLT from the NASCAR Foundation. At first, I considered selling it since I'm not typically a "truck guy," but after just a few moments of driving, I was amazed! Now, I’m selling my XLT to get the same Lightning with the Platinum package.

I used to think I'd switch to electric vehicles (EVs) only when they matched internal combustion engine prices, but I’ve changed my mind and won't go back. The experience of an EV has incredible value!! The only downside has been service; there’s only one EV technician at a large dealership northeast of Sacramento, and another nearby dealership refuses to service EVs altogether. I expect this will change as older technicians retire.

I only bought it because the Pro-Power was required to get Max-Tow.

I have never used Pro-Power to power anything other then to play around with it. I plugged in a power miter saw and ran it on the tailgate. Turned out to be a bad idea because it fills your truck and garage with sawdust. A folding table out on the driveway with the cuttings directed away from the garage door is still the best way to cut lumber you just hauled home with the truck.

Love this setup - when you have time would love to know the accessories/gear you selected here!

I don’t know about you other Lightning owners, but I am concerned that after owning and experiencing the F-150 Lightning, twice, I will never be happy with an ICE vehicle, or ANY other F-150 or other truck… again.

The smooth ride, quiet ride, asinine acceleration, one-pedal, regenerative braking, the FRUNK, no real interval maintenance before 100k, reduced brake wear, excellent weight distribution and balance, winter handling and traction, excellent headlights, quick cab warming in the winter, and did I say FRUNK?

Yes, I have a few gripes, mostly related to over-the-air updates and FordPass, but out of the box, both Lightnings have been better quality but 200% over ANY of the four ICE F-150’s I’ve owned in the last six years. Plus, the Lightning is relatively simple. Two electric motors and a battery.

Anyone else feel the same way?
First EV and first F-150 (but had ICE Suburban years ago) and I traded in my 2011 Mercedes Benz R350 for it - I will never go back to ICE if I can help it….😬

Yeah thanks. Max-Tow not necessary for me either. Stock is 7,700 pounds and most I will tow is an aluminum trailer and 3,000 lb car.

The Lightning or other EVs are definitely a permanent part of my stable of vehicles. However, they are not yet capable of replacing the other vehicles that I currently use. Net range and refueling options are not yet sufficient to replace my ice vehicles.

I’m retired and my wife works from home. We kept our old 2009 Fusion as a second car. I had to take it to get inspected today and we put a total of 590 miles on it in the last year. When I bought the Lightning I was planning to replace the Fusion with either a Bronco or Bronco Sport as a road trip vehicle but now I know that EVs are great for road trips. The mistake that Ford is making is not offering more EV options because if for some reason I had to replace the Fusion I would look at other options. If there was an EV version of the Bronco today I would probably get rid of both vehicles and make the Bronco EV our only car. At this point I’m more likely to end up in a Scout.

I truly appreciate the Lightning. I wish the bed was longer and it turned tighter, but it’s the best on the market for the money. This EV is different on many levels- always being connected, knowing a good estimate of the range, scheduled warm ups, phone as a key, ProPower on board if the power drops. ICE trucks can have some of these extras, but usually not integrated like the Lightning… and it doesn’t look like a High school sheet metal project.
