All else being equal, I'd buy the same truck for sure. Nothing else in its price range with close to the same value.

But what if I'd married someone who would have let me buy a Flash instead of an XLT? Hmmm... :sneaky:

All things being equal I would probably have done it again.

Hindsight is 20/20 and the insane deals that's been availible and the fact that my depreciation alone is 2-3 times higher than peoples lease payments makes a lease (to me anyway) a no brainer at this point unless you plan on keeping the truck "forever".

For me the choice was between a Rivian and Lightning and I (personally) think the headlights on Rivian is butt-ugly and their higher reservation fee at the time kind of sealed the deal.
The scout is interesting, but who knows if they have the same reliability as Electrify America (another VW product) plus I'm not a fan of the interior - it looks great in a broschure, but I'm pretty sure it'll age just as well as milk. Cybertruck is a non starter for many reasons.

So yeah, I probably would get a Lightning again.

Agreed, Tesla is a no-go, ever, unless Elon drops dead.

Scout looks great. I like the idea of a gas-powered generator to extend range, interesting concept.

I also like the the VW Buzz and become a modern day hippy.

My family is now all electric. We traded in out 10-year old Toyota Highlander for a Kia Niro. early results are my wife LOVES it and she’s all in on EV.

We’ll see what happens with summer road trips!

Had I known Ford was going to be so difficult to deal with and my truck would be in the shop so much, I would not have bought it. Don't get me wrong, I really like the truck . . . when it works. I don't like the attitude from service departments suggesting that I don't need certain features like DC fast charging, or that by using features like remote start I'm somehow misusing the truck. This is my first and last new Ford. They clearly don't want my business and I'm happy to take it elsewhere.

I test drove the CyberTruck a few weeks ago, and it is an incredible vehicle. If I can get a decent price for my Lariat ER with 26,000kms, I think I might go get it instead.

But Elon is a POS. And my friend has a Cybertruck, it is nice.

What bummed me out is that the EV market has not taken off for Ford, especially Lightnings. Why? Because their demographic are the least likely to embrace the change. You know how many truck owners told me they’d get an EV over their dead bodies? Even while thinking the truck looks great.

So since Ford EV’s are not selling great, they are less interested in servicing them as initially hoped. Sucks.

I don't understand why people hate Elon Musk so much.

Can you say Nazi Salute?

Tesla SS, the people’s car, coming soon.

I watched that. Definitely not a Nazi salute. That's a gross twisting of it. That's just how all marxists are portraying it because they hate capitalists and the free market, and they have no substance to support their hate for him.

From a market perspective, Musk is the reason we have our Lightnings today, and unlike the legacy automakers, he never tried to prevent others from entering the market.

I’ll try to keep this ambiguous enough to prevent getting the thread closed.

People hate Elon Musk because he switched sides. The person who single handedly brought EV’s to the masses in the US and was the champion of one side for a decade found things he disagreed with and decided to go another direction. The first major thing was his purchase of Twitter and really opening it up for free speech. Then he started to move farther from the first group, landing on supporting the candidate that group was repulsed by in this election. That group is also pissed at Joe Rogan and a host of others who don’t agree with them anymore.

The funny thing is that for years the other group hated Musk because of the EV’s, but now they love him. I’m one of those people who put my money where my mouth was and purchased a Tesla in 2024. We could’ve just kept my wife’s Tacoma. There were other factors like excess home solar to power the EV, but we specifically wanted to buy a Tesla.

I think this is a true statement.
That is to say, I think we would have gotten here eventually, but he definitely advanced the timeline by a decade or more.

GM showed us how not to launch an EV with the EV1.

I also watched that on TV. I agree it’s not a good optic, and my wife said that out loud at the time. I think the guy on the spectrum got a little over excited with his “my heart goes out to you” gesture.

Have you tried other Ford dealers, or just your selling dealer?

My Ford dealer has been good. They only have one EV tech so appointments can take time but they are nice, professional and the work has always been done right. And most of my issues have been software related.
