The federal $7500 rebate program states: "The credit begins to phase out for vehicles at the beginning of the second calendar quarter after the manufacturer has sold 200,000 eligible plug-in electric vehicles".

Fed EV tax credit

Ford is at 126,000. Even if they hit 200,000 sold before our Lightnings arrive next summer, we have an additional 2 quarters to quality. I am confident that I will get the full $7500 as long as I take delivery in 2022. We also get a $1000 charger install rebate.

New to all this, but what is the $1000 charger install rebate you speak of. I don't recall seeing this anywhere. Thanks.

Don't forget state rebates, too. Here in CA, we get an additional $2500.
Depends on the program. CVRP has no funding now and is contingent, there is the upfront clean fuel rebate, who knows if that will be there next year.

I'm going to continue to think of it as a possible bonus. I know there are going to be a lot of upset customers who get pushed back and land outside of the federal credit window.

The great news is that Ford, according to Farley himself, knows that the switch to EVs won't happen if they're all $100K vehicles and they tried to price the new Lightning competitive to the ICE F150... no doubt year-on-year price increases will be a hot topic.

Not to be political but if I were in charge of the country and wanted to push the Green New Deal, I would remove the cap of 200,000 vehicles for all US made vehicles and really turbo charge EV sales.

All of this assuming the F-150L arrives and is delivered in 2022. 6-12 month delays are not unknown. I have my fingers crossed but I think it is closer to 50/50 if we get our full $7,500 than people want to admit.

That’s in Biden’s infrastructure plan.

Does anyone know if there is a small incentive for the Powerboost hybrid? Lol it’s kind of electric... I guess.

You are correct, it is in the infrastructure plan:

"In total, Biden’s infrastructure plan includes $174 billion for electric vehicles. But how will that be divided up?

A majority of it, $100 billion, will be allocated to rebates for consumers buying EVs. The rebates, expected to be $7,500, would greatly help lessen the gap between the price of EVs and ICEs, currently one of the largest deterrers for consumers to make the switch, Folger says.

Another headline of the Biden plan is the planned creation of 500,000 EV charging stations, with $15 billion allocated for that rollout, Reuters reported. "

FYI - $100B equated to 13 million $7500 rebates!

Your logic doesn’t make sense. If the truck is delayed, what is going to eat up the credits? Mach-E? Yeah right. Not when it’s selling 40K units a year mostly to the EU.

126,000 reservations is not 126,000 sales.

If you are referring to my original post, it is 126,641 cumulative sales for Ford so far. Look at the chart again.

He is saying that Ford has already sold over 125K EV's since the inception of the credits. They only have 75K credits left until they hit the 200K cap. What those EV's were I have no clue (Fusion, Focus and MachE???) The cap is not a hard cap but tapers out (lower amount of credit) over several quarters. More than likely only the first year or so deliveries will get the credit. And yes, the Mach E is selling in the US.
