  1. New Lightning Lariat owner - what is the adapter I need for the Tesla supercharger network?

As above buy the A2Z it’s well worth it. Parking can be tricky, either end up with front bumper touching the charger to reach or if you can snag the spot beside the charging banks it’s easier.
  2. New Lightning Owner - Tesla Supercharger, Ford Navigation app, other questions

At moment Tesla doesn’t show in any of our nav systems - but does in charge assist (go figure). Use PlugShare to see which Tesla sites will allow you to charge some do not. Generally it’s 170kw reliably and feathers down - observational Tesla has “always” ran at high kw never had it limit to...
  3. Ideal Charging Practices ?

Plug in - always, plugged truck heats/cools battery as needed. To me way more important then what SOC Rest use common sense - running down to 0 = bad. If you don’t need 100 stop at 80 or 90. If you live where it’s exceedingly hot get max tow with dual cooling. Otherwise call us in 8 years ;)
  4. Should I buy Fleet 2024 Pro ER or 2024 Flash?

$60 with zero looks okay, best we can get fleet wise on an ER PRO is $74 cda / $52 USD cash. They have a Flash that’s been sitting for $72 cda / $51 usd. The zero percent is worth about $7,500. For us the Flash MSRP puts it outside rebate range where Pro gets $9k off above. If they both...
  5. 1000 mile road trip with SR Pro?

Doing it is no issue, you’ll need 30 minutes every two hours assuming 120 kw+ chargers. There’s an optimum driving speed vs charging time vs cost - pick two and deal with third lol. Doing 60 you’ll need to stop 7 times for 3.5 hours. Roughly 20 hours for 1000 miles. With a gas most would...
  6. Would a F150 Flash work for me, or should I wait?

Don’t discount the value of “5 minute charging stop” - 90% of time I can make a 200 mile / 320 km run no problem however the day with the strong headwind makes a stop necessary. Sounds like you have a Tesla bank of chargers on route as we do - 5 minutes at 150kws generally gives me a nice...
  7. Newish 24 lightning owner travel charging experience

We’ve found charging to be highly variable and not always logical - Tesla so far is a consistent start at 150 then ramp down to 115 then to 50 at 90 then lower to 100 (never waited that long). Ford branded 120 kw, consistently 110+. Petro/Shell/Coop “100 to 250 kw” best case 70kw usually...
  8. Basic Lariat vs Flash w/ Options? or wait for used?

The Flash and Lariat are really apple vs orange comparisons. I picked up our Lariat for $2k more then equivalent Flash - for resale etc was right move with extra toys. Now has 40k on odometer, opened roof once on day bought it, never opened rear window. Memory seats - every time get in truck...
  9. Should I buy Fleet 2024 Pro ER or 2024 Flash?

If the prices are the same the Flash (big screen and all) is the better buy - that said any Flash that cheap is likely missing the 9.6 Propower which can be a deal breaker - as another poster mentioned the MSRP gap is $10k. Gov’t rebates also play into it, for us a Pro gets $9k vs Flash at $5k...
  10. What type of discounts on 24 Flash?

Ford pumped out some factory allocation Flash’s without 9.6 ProPower that are sitting the dealers are adding an extra $2500 off to those if you don’t want it (they are sitting because everyone does…). There are a few 23 Platinums still around with $30k discounts - deleted heated steering...
  11. Ford Power Promise – Take the charger/install or the money/discount?

I have two of the Ford chargers still sitting in boxes... main reason they are cumbersome vs the $399 Grizz-e's that still do 40 amps (on a simple 4-50 plug) which has been more then enough. Two ev's just get the dual head and plug/unplug viola upgraded! I like the concept but the reality of...
  12. Add physical HVAC control unit alongside 15"

I see two options - find a wrecked XLT and swap the dash (assuming there is any chance the computer and harness is that easy…) or get a 23 XLT ER. I completely agree on the controls having both models the XLT controls win hands down. The XLT seats also win comfort wise…. Unless you really love...
  13. Garage too small. Anyone park outside? In the snow?

Wait… you have defrost wires here? This is our Lariat, the xlts don’t to my knowledge however I’d need to check them. Something from 22 that’s disappeared?
  14. Garage too small. Anyone park outside? In the snow?

The lack of engine heat to keep ice off the wipers is only real issue I’ve had in winter - the trucks would benefit from two defrost wires inline with wiper blades defrost once driving can’t seem to keep them from freezing up (below -20…)
  15. Wait on Ford or buy Lectron Vortex Direct?

Given those of us who registered in first days/hours still dont have our free Ford ones - and now the recall - dont expect one for a long time just buy the a2z. It's a game changer for range anxiety (or charger roulette). You'll sleep better with one in truck.

  17. Would You Buy A Lightning Again?

Up to 5 of them so yes lol, 95% of people do not factor fuel savings into their math when they worry about the truck losing value. Gas and electrical rates vary, for us truck breakeven (are basically free from gas savings) at 100k miles. That said I'll be scouring auctions for 23 model years...
  18. Selling because I drive too much.

If you are driving that much your savings on fuel should be covering the cost of the truck - maybe replace current with a Pro ER but I cant ever see going back to a gas truck especially if only life expectancy is the concern (towing limits are okay for you). If you are charging at DC chargers...
  19. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

You are spiking above 30 amps on start-up, the truck has a software side breaker where a conventional manual breaker allows for this surge before tripping- the truck does not. Turn on your Pro Power screen and watch the power spike while your buddy runs the welder. You should see it ramp up...
  20. How to get faster charging?

Short answer - go to Tesla Long answer - I was told by the Manager of one of charging networks that EA and the F150 don’t play nice and in her reports she can see the chargers consistently only give Lightnings 50% power. I used a 150/180 kw EA last night and got 70kw. I plug into Tesla I get...
