Watch this 1 hr video. It is very helpful. I followed the wiring setup in this video to add puddle lights, turn signal and running lights using the Ford mirrors mentioned earlier

I installed 22 pin Ford tow mirrors on my 2015 F150 XLT 8 pin truck.

This thread is specifically about the 2021's. When/if you get a pair installed on your 21 please report back with some photos/how it went.

Ok guys today I removed the tow mirrors from my superduty (2021) and confirmed that they DO indeed fit the F150 and as long as you get the 22 pin connector on the Superduty mirror side (2020-2021 for sure, but possibly as far back as 2017ish) I believe you will be in business.

The hard part now: You want to find superduty mirrors that have the same specs as your mirrors.

XL/STX guys, we may be out of luck because I'm pretty sure there are no fully manual superduty mirrors, they will be at least manual fold, manual extend, but with power adjustable mirrors.

XLT/Lariat folks, if you have power adjust but not power folding, then XL and possibly XLT superduty mirrors should work as long as they are NOT powerscope.

Now this is making one huge assumption. I am assuming the pin out on the mirrors is the same between the models/years, and it very well may be different. More research/contribution needed here (by someone else).

Now having said all of this, as soon as forscan can write to the 2021 F150 and we have the confirmation on the pinout patterns, I believe we may be able to add any mirrors we wish assuming you want to invest the time and money in getting the proper wiring harnesses/electronic components. But honestly if you're going that route you may as well just invest in the 2021 f150 powerscope mirrors.

But if your mirrors are feature equivalent with the superduty mirrors you're after, we may be in the clear provided again that the pin-out is unchanged.

One more caveat, the mounting surface of the bottom of the mirror will need some very minor trimming/sanding to protect your window seal. The 2021 F150 seal sticks up about 1/16" higher than the F250. I did not push the mirror entirely into place on mine nor trim it since I needed both mirrors to go back to their prospective trucks.

For my next step I believe I may invest in some aftermarket/used superduty mirrors and either mod them to be feature mirrors of my mirrors, or I may add power adjust to my truck with forscan once it's possible and then put on a set of XL manual folding, manual extend, power adjustable mirrors like the ones on my STX F250.

i have traded mirrors with someone and can confirm that the pinout may not be the same between models (i have an XLT and he has a Platinum). i have the same options as the gentleman i traded mirrors with. he took my blis, lane keep, zone lighting 360 camera standard mirrors and gave me his tow mirrors. his mirrors currently do not move inwards or down with the button. but up and out. looks like we will have to just wait until Forscan can get available for us to correct this issue.

Either that, or you could (possibly) repin the connectors. Could either find a wiring schematic (unlikely) or spend some time with a multimeter and the switch.

i will be installing my tow mirrors tonight from his platinum so i am interested to see what becomes of it with my truck. i cant imagine it would be too much longer for the forscan coding to be available.

I was wrong about the XL/STX. My mirrors and the XL/STX F-250 mirrors are feature equivalent. Both manual fold, both heated w/ temp sensor & power adjust. So I'll be transferring my F-250 mirrors to my F-150 and going through the same thing.
I want to upgrade my F-250 mirrors though to ones w/ puddle lights and turn signal lights. I have a feeling that it may already be wired up for them. Once I get those in I'll start this journey on my F-150.

Ford F-150 Lightning 2018-2020 Tow Mirrors fit? 9F3E8EB9-D018-45D7-8C9C-8B80009C2403

I got the mirrors installed, I had a check engine light for air temp sensor for a bit. Shut the truck off and initiated a remote start and it cleared the CEL right up.

the issue I am trying to solve is the truck that got my normal size mirrors (platinum) cannot move the mirrors inward or down. Not sure why that is. Pins and everything matched and they worked perfectly before they where installed. Just really confusing.

Do your mirrors move normally inward and down?

Also can you snap a photo of the mirror mounting surface as seen from inside the cab looking at the base where it meets up with the window seal?

Thank you.

As I suspected the mounting surface was redesigned to fit the door contours. The prior years will not fit without some slight modification (trimming of the mounting surface near the inner window seal).

Here is that mounting surface on the old mirrors:

Vs the slightly trimmed one:

In addition to this difference, the overall trim surface that backs the mirror seems to have been reduced in size about 2-5% as evidenced by the area around the mirror arms:

Vs the old ones:

The arm bleeds into the chamfer a bit on the new mirrors. I'm wondering if this will affect the seal or just the visual appearance.

It's looking more and more convenient to just use the new 2021 F150 tow mirrors.

I'm still gonna use the old style mirrors on mine at least for a while since I'm about to have an extra set sitting around anyways.

I'll keep you guys posted when I eventually modify/mount them.

Wow now that you have pointed that out I can see your point. They really weren’t kidding when they said almost every panel on the truck was redesigned in some way or another lol.
