Weren't the original Lightnings only 390 hp? New Lightnings are electric only? Is that right?

Man, I can’t wait! I was looking for Mach-E to compliment the XLT but I might just kill two birds with one stone.
As a car and truck owner, I'm looking forward to a matched set. I have my Mach E, now time to replace my ICE truck.

Can’t wait either. I’ve been on the fence about going for a Mach-E, but our family would be better served by a truck. Hope this has at least 300 miles of range for the 2-3 times a year I head to Austin.

Anyone know how quickly the first editions of the Mach-E sold? Hours? Minutes?
300 miles unloaded will be a necessity for me for regular trips hauling kayaks to WV.

Mach E First Editions sold out in under 3 weeks.

Every one of the Mach Es in my dealers showroom show as being sold
Average time in showrooms is 4 days. The only Mach Es most dealer's get are the ones released with folks don't want the ones they ordered. Many are going for $5,000-$10,000 over MSRP.

I’m guessing this will be in the mid to high $60k? BTW, my dealer rep said the order banks will be open on Weds.
My guess is Ford will follow the Mach E approach and open the system for Reservations during Wednesday night's reveal. Those would then be converted to orders later.

Mach E reservations required $500 refundable deposits to Ford. When you placed your order, the $500 was refunded and you arranged order deposit directly with your dealer.

Looks like a pretty standard F150 with extra lights across the front. I think this is the right approach for Ford if they want these to be adopted as fleet trucks and by contractors.
Agreed. I want the bed size to be compatible with current F-150 caps, covers, tool boxes, etc.

Not just the Mach-E. Almost EVERYTHING is flying off the lot, because there is virtually no inventory due to the multiple shortages. People are buying F-150's for as much as $10,000 over MSRP (not me, though), before they even arrive.

Looks like it would be a fun truck to own, but recharge times will limit it to local use. It would never be practical for my annual drive from Seattle to Phoenix and back. Ten minute gas stops for my PowerBoost are still much more practical for my application.
Having driven my Mach E from MD to FL and back already, charging isn't so bad. My charge sessions were usually ~30 minutes. every 3 hours or so. When you combine that with bathroom time, getting coffee or eating, it really doesn't add much time to your travel. Overnight we found hotels with free chargers so fully charged when we started each morning.

Whoever told you EVs are worse for the environment either was working off very old information, was poorly informed, or was intentionally spreading misinformation. The best summary article I know of is here:
https://www.carbonbrief.org/factcheck-how-electric-vehicles-help-to-tackle-climate-change

It shows that the carbon footprint small car production is paid off in two years. It will be interesting to see how this compares for pickups but will probably be faster because the fuel/energy economy is so much lower for trucks than small cars. Of course, trucks require more material, too.

Do you know if they will offer a first edition like the Mach-E? Standard AWD? Similar options to the ICE F-150?

I think the whole environment argument is null when going electric basically, who knows if it if helps the environment or not.

What I do know is there will be more money in my pockets from NOT buying gas or supporting foreign governments Oil business.

I'd love to see a PHEV plug in F150 that has the ability to run on full electric until it depletes and then acts as a regular hybrid. That would work perfect for my short weekly commute but also wouldn't leave me in a jam out in the bush with my trailer if I run out of power.

Agreed. I was disappointed the 2021 Powerboost Hybrid wasn't PHEV.

im not trying to split hairs however I agree with the article to an extent the carbon foot print of an ev car even with the carbon foot print of producing the battery is less then a fuel driven vehicle. However in all this articles I did not see the disposal and recycling factor with that article. For me the green solution has been hydrogen fuel cells will always be that as well. I know the process is more expensive but never can go wrong with a resource that is so abundant. And produces clean drinking water.

At this point, most electric car batteries are lasting between 10-20 years before requiring replacement. At that point, most are being adapted for use as storage batteries in commercial-scale electrical backup systems. Part of the reason there is little market for lithium battery recycling at this point is very few have ever been recycled.

You are absolutely right that burning hydrogen produces water. There is nothing clean about it due to the exhaust systems it exits, however, and none of it is collected for drinking. It piddles out the back of the cars. As for the source, most vehicle hydrogen is produced using petroleum gas and is nothing more than a product of the same fossil fuel it is meant to replace.

That long? Kind of surprised, though I'm not sure how many were offered. Unless there is some terrible, glaring drawback to the Lightning I think if they're offering a First Edition I'll be there. I really wanted a grabber blue FE Mach-E, but we had other things going on at the time. For the cost of a GT or GTPE, I'm more interested in a truck.
