Wondering if anyone else has experienced a failed windshield seal on the lightning? I just purchased a new 2024 Lightening Lariat at the end of October and last week with the heavy rain it spring a leak. My wife first noticed something was wrong when she was driving it and received several trouble lights, a look at the app showed:

- Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power
- Precollision Assist Not Available
- Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning
- Blind Spot Detection & Cross Traffic

The truck was also refusing to go in to park and took multiple attempts.

When my wife got back in the truck the lights were out and it performed normally for the remainder of the day. The next day I drive it and for the first hour or so no issues. After an errand I got back in and turned the truck on and immediately the horn started blaring and would not stop unless I turned the truck off. As I sat there I noticed the tops of my shoes getting wet in the footwell area and when I looked down I could see rain water running down behind the dash and leaking on the floor.

I was only a few miles from my Ford dealer so, with the horn honking 🤦‍♂️ , I drove it across town to ford. They have had it since 11/22 and so far have diagnosed a failed windshield seal which they claim is a common issue. They were supposed to replace the windshield yesterday and once they confirmed that the leak is resolved they said they will look at the electrical issue. I am concerned that they are not going to do much in the way of replacement for anything that got wet and I’m not sure how much I should worry about that given the warranty, but regardless, not a fun experience on a 3 week old truck!

Just to add insult to injury, I got my first billing statement the day after it went into the dealer!

Welcome to the forum, it's a rare occurrence to have a windshield leak, though in the past couple years we've had folks chime in about the moonroof drains getting blocked or the plumbing coming loose creating a wet mess in the cabin. Those prior incidents were resolved, some members were able to get a new carpet and padding installed to prevent potential mold issues, push for this on your truck.

Side note, your vehicle profile is showing 2025 for your model year, you can fix that to 2024 via this link. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/account/account-details

The truck is new enough that you should push for a replacement or refund. Water in the electrical system can lead to long term damage that is hard to diagnose. That is not the new truck experience that you paid for.

Thought I would provide a quick update on this thread as I have had the truck back for about a week now. No luck getting the truck replaced, I’ve been advised that Ford considers vehicles eligible for buy back after 3 repeat visits for the same issue so it looks like I’m going to be taking the long road on this one.

That being said, Ford did replace the affected computer in the dash and the windshield. The carpet is also being replaced however this is where it gets frustrating… the carpet is back ordered with no estimated delivery date and the truck smells terribly of mildew. I’m working with the dealer currently to have them take the truck back and give me something else to drive until the carpet comes in because the smell is unbearable and also likely not safe for me or my 7 month old daughter. So far the dealer has been less than responsive to my requests and has fought me this entire process so I’m hoping they can get their act together.

I’ve purchased 7 vehicles from this dealer over the years and am severely disappointed with the quality of their customer service on this one. Any chance we have a Ford corporate rep active on the forum?
