3GB / 3 month trial data plan from AT&T - anyone use it ?

So looking at my Ford Pass app while waiting for my Lightning to be delivered next week, I ran across WiFi hotspot and takes me to AT&T for sign up.

I signed up but have not activated yet.

Has anyone used this trial?
Is anyone keeping this service ?
How much is it ?

Pros, cons, costs after 3 months, speed of data ?

With unlimited data and 20G of hotspot data on my personal phone, I'm not too interested and will likely pass.

It would be nice for a cloud connected Dashcam. The cost is

The only question is if the WiFi is only on when the truck is running? If yes its not as useful. Maybe for kids steaming videos on tablets?

I've had this offered on the last 6 Ford vehicles I've owned. I actually signed up for it on two of them and incorrectly assumed it would be of some benefit. I did bite for a full year the first time (2018), and then let it lapse as completely not worth the $225 or whatever it was for an upfront payment of a year. The second time (2020) I signed up and bailed after the free trial, which is ridiculous at only 3GB total data until it's done.

I don't travel with a truckload of passengers who might need streaming media support, and/or who's phones are incapable of doing their own streaming.

The g-kids connect to my son's phone as a hotspot for their tablets when we're together.

Really and truly this feature is as useful as a BellSouth landline at this point. Ford must be raking in some coin by having built in AT&T hotspots installed at production time....like they're probably raking in coin by putting Alexa into the APIM and a dedicated button prominently displayed where a dedicated "Camera" soft button would be far more useful, and welcome!

If I remember correctly it will stay on as long as the vehicle has not gone to sleep. Which if you're sitting in your truck...as long as the radio keeps playing. Same timer.

Wow that much to pay after the trial ?

I'll use my company hotspot with unlimited data......

Even though I have a 5G iphone 13 pro max and a cellular ipad as well as a mobile 5g hotspot, I subscribed to this unlimited package with ATT because it allows me to use my Android MMB to stream things like Disney+, HBO Max, Youtube, Netflix directly to the main 15" screen without having to have my primary phone constantly be setup as a hotspot which is a pain to do every time you get in the vehicle and can interfere with wireless carplay in 5GUW areas. I'm definitely an edge case here, but being able to watch videos about lightnings while I'm charging my lightning, on my lightning's screen without any additional interaction by me, is worth the $200 a year. It's also nice to have a backup network since my phone is through Verizon.
