That would be right without a soft start. Too much load... Soft start solves the problem and what it is designed for.. When I had my sunrun electricians measure the amperage on the air-conditioned during start up they commented that it was the lowest measurement they had seen, wish I had written down the measurement bit was in the neighborhood of my fridge ..
Tempstar... added the soft start when I knew my truck was being assembled... can't remember the cost at the moment but was reasonable even with my air guy doing the installation.. could have ordered on line and installed myself if I had the time...
