I use the Alexa voice command a lot when I drive. Today it suddenly gave me a error message that said "Having trouble connecting. Check connection and try again"

First: any idea how to correct this?

Second: Does Alexa use my cellphone service or my Ford Connectivity subscription?

Thanks

Not sure how to correct, but maybe it was a connectivity thing. Using Alexa via the sync screen will use your Ford connectivity subscription unless you run a hot spot on your phone and connect your truck via WiFi. Just like your phone will prefer wifi to 4/5G, the truck will prefer wifi when it's available even if that wifi comes from a hotspot since the truck wouldn't know the difference.

Just got my truck back Friday from the dealer after the 10,000 mile service and recall for the battery sensor. Received the same error you got for Alexa. After spending over 2 hours with Tech support they decided that the dealer must have done a master reset which disconnected the Ford subscriptions for 10 days. No explanation why? If it does not came back on it's own after 10 days I am suppose to call back.
You might want to check "Alexa Built-In" on the Ford Pass App to see if its active. Mine shows it is active but tech support told me that does not effect the 10 suspension? You will find it under your account in the upper right corner of the ford pass home screen then Connected services, scroll to the bottom.

I just stumbled on the opposite experience. Alexa started answering me again after it was gone for quite a long time.

I mainly stream music and Audiobooks through CarPlay, so I couldn't understand why I would need to subscribe to Ford's Connected Services subscription in the first place, so I let the trial expire.

After the trial expired, Alexa stopped answering questions. Now, it's back. I'm not sure if it was a fluke that it stopped, or a fluke that it started again... or if Ford changed the policy.

Either way, I'm glad it's back. Since I have CarPlay, I never used Alexa for streaming, but I like being able to ask questions, especially asking for the weather. It does a much better job than Siri.
