Is it just me or do others have issues with the performance of Blue Cruise? It’s so inconsistent on when it works or not and I don’t like how it hugs the right side. I’ve used it on two 370 mile one way trips on the I-5 freeway in California and it gives up often. I’m to the point where I just use adaptive cruise since I know that will always work. Blue cruise is very different experience from autopilot in my tesla. I don’t understand how ford thinks they will be able to charge for this as a subscription based service in the future given its current performance. Hoping 1.2 or 1.3 is a lot better.

I don't have BlueCruise but I have noticed that the adaptive cruise control also likes to stick to the right side of the lane. I thought it was just me. I wonder if there is a way to change or recalibrate the lane centering.

Adaptive Cruise Control is not the steering function; it’s only “smart” speed control relative to traffic and speed limit signs.
Trying to understand: isn’t Bluecruise just the final stage of a 3-stage Driver Assistance progression?
1) Adaptive Cruise control: speed is controlled relative to traffic, even to point of stop and go;
2) Lane Centering automatically kicks in, if and when detectable lane markings permit; [Aside: **Lane “Keeping” is a lower-level capability which doesn’t utilize the radar/sensor hardware equipped on vehicles with Adaptive Cruise Control; it’s less capable than Lane Centering, and ping-pongs between lane markings rather than following a straight path midway between lane markings]
3) Bluecruise automatically kicks in (if on a digitally mapped highway), allowing hands-off Lane Centering, subject to driver monitoring.

So, is there really a difference between Lane Centering with Bluecruise engaged, and Lane Centering with Bluecruise not engaged? Is Bluecruise Lane Centering a whole new level of assisted steering, bestowed with Copilot 360 Active, or just a “hands-off” addition to the same Lane Centering capability that comes with Copilot 360 Assist?
Has anyone out there driven both a Copilot Assist truck and a Copilot Active truck, and experienced any differences in Lane Centering performance? (other than no “hands-on-the-wheel” reminders with Bluecruise?)

I think I may have misspoke. I think I should be said Copiolt Assist vs cruise control. For me when I engage cruise control steering kicks in and it does all the driving for me (slows down, speeds up, lane centering, etc) I just have to keep my hands on the steering wheel so it feels some resistance or it yells at me after a given amount of time.

Do you drive in the right most lane where on/off ramps are located?

I've noticed a trend, hands free will disengage if the systems does not detect lane keeper hash lines from where the off or on ramp splits off from the travel lane, once it sees the hash marks or solid line for the break-down lane then it returns to hands free mode.

Yeah it seems to have issues when freeways connect/merge. Happens when I’m in the far left and when I’m in the far right as well.

I've probably got 7,000+ miles of Blue Cruise hands-free cross-country driving and love it. That being said, it does "give up" more than I wish it did, but that just means I take over for 30 seconds or so. And it sometimes does feel like it's not centered, but I've asked my passengers which way it feels "off" and they always say the opposite of what I observe, so I'm guessing it's more centered than I think. I sometimes nudge it over when we're going around trucks just to make myself feel better. But I've also been in big city dense traffic, stop & go, slow and go, situations and went hands-free the entire time. Looking forward to BC 1.3 for sure. And I use BC in town all the time for adaptive cruise, speed limit sign recognition, and lane centering, even without hands-free. It's not perfect, but I think it helps keep me safer than without it.

Is the quality of the lane marks worn out?

Are there surface disturbances such as potholes, misaligned bridge to roadway segments?

Here in Mass we've got some shizzzy freeways, a lot of times I have encountered bad enough conditions that it will disengage in any of the lanes of travel, the problems tend to go way after Mass. highway spends months resurfacing the bridges and approaching roadbed, refreshing painted lines, etc.

Markings seem fine for the most part. Feels like its just wants your hands on whenever you get near freeway intersections. You can see below that even though I am keeping my lane, the system thinks that the freeway is merging and wants me to hold the wheel. There are other instances too that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah problem here in So Cal is that it wants hands on quite often. Feels like every time I hit a freeway intersection it wants hands-on even though there is no other lane to go to unless you do a lane change. Example below in carpool lane, can't go anywhere else but it wants hands on because of the freeway above you.

BlueCruise was not activated in my truck initially so I used the co-pilot active lane centering in the beginning. Felt like it did more ping ponging. BlueCruise ping-pongs more than Tesla and co-pilot active was the worse of the three.
