Anyone install Diamondback tonneau cover on Lightning?

Good day,

Has anyone installed a Diamondback tonneau cover on their Lightning. I just received mine (Diamondback HD) however I am wondering how far back over the tailgate should I install it. If I line it up with the bed ledge near the cab window, it looks like water may be trapped on the tailgate where the bed step is stored. Any advice on installing this better so there is no water getting in the bed or tailgate bed step storage area?

I'm no expert, but to me it looks like it should go almost 3/4-1" backwards.

I bought one but my truck hasn't arrived yet they say it's due on May 17 th , I can't wait , when I bring it home the bed cover will be the first thing I install !

Installed the Diamondback HD from my 2018 on the 2023 lightning. Your placement is fine. I went through a winter with mine and no issue with water buildup. Winter is always a bit dicey and occasionally the seals get frozen down usually only after opening when wet and then into the deep freeze. If I have the foresight, I wipe the rain off rails/tailgate with a rag before I close it and it solves the issue. That will happen with any tonneau cover of this type.

Wait so the 15-20 DiamondBack fits the Lightning? I’ve thought it couldn’t be that different if it’s an above-bed accessory.

I have the opportunity to buy a never used FF15C-SE-DX-C4 but didn’t pull the trigger because it’s listed as only for 15-20, with the 21+ having a different sku.

Can anyone confirm this fits?

I installed it on my truck back in Dec. no issues. Here is some pics

Ours fit about like yours but on a Silverado. I had to get covers for the stake pockets and even then, there was water leakage around the perimeter; none of the three hatches leaked ... just the perimeter sides and especially the juncture between the back hatch and end gate... mostly at car washes. Watch out for ice build up on the rear ledge when the temp drops ...
