Asphalt is rated to 8,000lbs... per what area?As the Lightning (Lariat ER) comes in about 8,500 lbs. should I be concerned about its weight damaging my asphalt driveway - I see asphalt is rated generally good for up to 8,000 lbs.
I don't think it weighs that much unless it's with maxed out payload, I think it around 6500-7000lbs unloaded? edit, I was too late!As the Lightning (Lariat ER) comes in about 8,500 lbs. should I be concerned about its weight damaging my asphalt driveway - I see asphalt is rated generally good for up to 8,000 lbs.
Asphalt displacement also depends on temperature and duration, not just weight. Pulling a 15,000# truck into a driveway, unloading, and pulling back out in 40F weather will likely have less effect than parking a pickup in the same spot every day for the entire summer.8,500 might be the 'gross vehicle weight rating', but the Lightning only weighs in at about 6,500 - if your asphalt couldn't handle that, it also couldn't handle the propane truck, or the trash truck, or the water truck, or the Lowe's delivery truck.
