Update: I was informed of the following determination after the SWIS session:

"What we found during the tear down and inspection of the battery cell is that a small amount of coolant sprayed on the front on the assembly. Engineering worked with Patrick

To completely disassemble the battery pack and determine what parts the coolant touched. They found that the wiring harness and two modules in the front of the case had remnants

Of coolant and the 1st array had droplets on top of it. With these findings we will replace every part that the coolant touched. I have the parts on emergency order and should have

Everything by the end of the week and have it back together early next week. I certainly apologize it happened and assure you it will be back to factory specs when we are finished."

That was 02/25. Followed up today, 03/03, and was told they are waiting on one more part.

The service director then asked me, "Everything good with the loaner?" Really?! 🤣 I don't know what to make of that... implying it's going to be a long time? Trying to feel for if I fell in love with it and that they'll do a buy back and sell me the loaner?

Of course, how do you prove they actually worked with a Ford engineer? That the engineer advised them to do a repair that contradicts their Health and Saftey Guidelines for High-Voltage Batteries?

Update:

Finally heard what really happened... they initially disconnected the 12V battery. Later, they needed to move the truck to another lift. However, they failed to put the truck in neutral before disconnecting the 12V, so they reconnected it to put the truck in neutral and move it. When they lifted it, they forgot to disconnect the 12V.

On top of this, they had the HVB open and sitting at the back of the truck. When the coolant pumps kicked in, the coolant sprayed droplets (not a steam because they did have the tubes clamped) onto the HVB.

The service director admitted the tech didn't follow protocol and made a very expensive mistake.

The HVB has been rebuilt. They will deliver my truck to my home today. Just hoping they followed proper protocol putting it all back together.

Glad to hear you're approaching the finish line on this. I'm curious about the original issue (charging only to 84%) -- did they diagnose that it was a bad module and replace that module? (That was my diagnosis for the same issue, module is getting replaced now once it gets shipped to dealer.)

They did. I also reviewed service history and saw the battery health report. The voltage in one cell in one module was considerably lower than the rest.

@Jojomontag have you been monitoring the discussion on this thread, HV Battery Electrode Misalignment I wonder if your module issue relates to this, or it's just another run of the mill failed cell in a module?

Thanks! I saw it and checked. No recalls listed. Just a couple of CSPs that the dealer should have cleared.
