Winching yourself out of sand on a beach presents an interesting challenge of what to anchor the winch line to. Not like there are a lot of sturdy trees handy.

Dig a hole, put your spare tire in there (angled to make it difficult to pull out), attach winch, chuck some sand over the tire. The resistance can be enough. Also, of course, dig/prep your vehicle as much as possible.
