I use Garmins. Not to sound overly paranoid, I didn't like how many brands such as Fitcam were Chinese owned and had cloud capabilities. I don't trust that footage would be handled appropriately. Garmin makes their dashcams in Taiwan and is a US company at least. The app isn't great but I also don't use cloud storage instead connecting directly with my phone to download footage.

Obviously I make it harder on myself but things to consider depending on your priorities, there's no wrong answers.

Don't know if this was directed to me or not, but yes, the u3000 (or the u1000 from Ford) does record during parking.
The nice thing about the U3000 is that it has radar built in, so it's using less power during parking which in turn means it can stay in parking mode for longer times (days vs. 15-20hrs).

The FitcamX looks great but doe it record in parked mode if there is motion or jarring?

If you look at their web site they have a video showing how to install it so it records in park mode. Basically, there is no power to the mirror wires when the car is off. So you need to run a couple wires to the fuse block at the passenger kick panel and install additional fuse jumpers, like you would for other cams.

I like the OEM look of the FitCamX, but they really cheaped out on the cameras. Most of the good dashcams use Sony Starvis 2 to give you better night footage. FitCamX doesn't even have Starvis 1 in it. No GPS and no super capacitor which is a big deal if you have hot summers. Their pricing is really high for the hardware they currently offer. You are paying premium for the OEM look and easy install. I noticed on AliExpress that there are a number of knockoffs out there with some under $100 with the OEM look.

If you want OEM look and can live with the basic hardware then the FitCamX or one of the knockoffs are your only real choices at this point. If you want something with better hardware, features, etc then there are a number of options such as Viofo, Carmin, Thinkware, etc. The dashcam talk forums is a good place to look for reviews and opinions in the forum https://dashcamtalk.com/best-dash-cams-of-2024/
