Okay, my problem is resolved.I've been meaning to post the same. I forget the exact message , but it was something along the lines of the Sync system does not support this android device. I will plug carlink back in & get exact message tomorrow.
Oh , and I still don't have wireless Android auto & even connecting w/ USB , it disconnects / reconnects randomly . I change vehicles very frequently , but this is my 1st & last Ford. It's been to the dealership 7 times all for different items , in the 13 months I've owned it . 11k miles
SMH.
I contacted the Carlinkit support email, and they assisted me. Contrary to popular belief, the Carlinkit CAN connect to vehicles via the Carplay OR the Android Auto protocol.
My device worked fine on a Kia, but it connected through Android Auto. For some reason, that protocol doesn't work for the F-150 Lightning.
They emailed me a file entitled "Reverse.ini" in which I changed the default connection protocol back to Carplay and copied it to the root of an SD card. When the Carlinkit booted on my Kia, a popup indicated that there was a change request of the boot protocol. I confirmed, and it rebooted. It booted into the system via Carplay on the Kia.
I plugged it into the truck, and it booted into Carplay and loaded! It's working great again.
I can't explain what caused the device to default to the Android Auto protocol, but hopefully it doesn't happen again.
