Saw this bus being driven from the manufacturer plant in the California Bay Area to Maryland's Montgomery County...stopped at the Barstow EA charging station.

I didn't get a chance to talk to the driver--she was being harassed by the mall cop complaining about the location of the chargers by blaming the bus driver.

These buses probably have 500-600 kWh battery and probably get around 0.4-0.5 miles/kWh, so a 200-300 mile range. Charging 500 kWh on a 350 kW charger must mean a lot of long naps...

we see these all over the FSU Campus in Tallahassee, but their buses use a roof-mounted system, where they simply drive right UNDER a special charging apparatus, and no 'driver interaction' or plugging in is required...

Such a system is also being used in parts of Germany for long-haul electric trucks (and other large vehicles).

Meanwhile MBTA in Boston is pulling down wires and pretending periodic charging of battery electric trolleybuses will give anything even remotely like the efficiency or range of just directly powering the drivetrain from the trolley wires as their existing system did. There's plenty of new dumb stuff to match up to all the new smart stuff in this world, it seems.

Same in Louisville Kentucky (some of the TARC lines only, so far). A suspended charging point, as it were.
